The Dog Walker’s Diary
Released on: 11/7/17
Genre: Contemporary Fiction/Romance
Reviewed by: Leanne*
Rating: 4 dashing dachshunds
Recommended for: Dog lovers, writers, gingers, ginger lovers
Daniel Ashe is an LA literary agent with a strange fear. Annie Doherty is a lively Irish red-head with an unusual past. He just needed a dog walker and what she needs is a bit more complicated.
Kathryn Donahue’s first novel is original if not a little schizophrenic. It begins with a meet cute, meanders through fanciful dog tales and eventually leads to legal drama. The canine adventures that Annie writes for Daniel are at first cute, then a little distracting, they are however, relevant. Whimsical at times, flirtatious and occasionally tragic, The Dog Walker’s Diary has a lot going on. The book is divided into two vastly different sections, but if you hang in there for the journey, the ending is divine. Buy it today.

An Ex for Christmas

Genre: Holiday Contemporary Romance
Rating: 4.5 Kisses Under the Mistletoe
Recommended for: All the good boys and girls
Sure, the holiday season is about family and friends, but who are we kidding, it’s really about curling up with a blanket and a good book with a happily ever after ending deserving of a Hallmark movie.
Well, merry early Christmas, to us, because Lauren Layne has come through like one of those creepy Elfs on the Shelf. Hold the mistletoe, An Ex for Christmas is the holiday romance novel you didn’t know you were waiting for.
Kelly Byrne has never met a superstition she didn’t immediately adapt, so when a psychic tells her she has already met her true love she doesn’t hesitate to make an ex list and starts checking it twice. She hilariously makes her way down the list of disappointing man after disappointing man while her long time best friend with no benefits, Mark, watches in dismay. Wake up and smell the egg nog, Kelly! This is a true friends to lovers romance that will not disappoint. I can’t wait to read it again in the light of my Christmas tree this year. Buy it today.

The Queen and the Cure
Released on: 5/9/2017
Reviewed by: Janna
Genre: Young Adult Fantasy
Rating: Five Gruff Warriors
Technically a sequel to Harmon’s The Bird and the Sword, but can be read as a standalone. As bastard brother to the king, Kjell of Jeru wants nothing more than a warrior’s life, serving the kingdom by ridding it of the deadly Volgar creatures. He certainly doesn’t want to acknowledge the fact that he’s a powerful healer, or that Sasha, a beautiful redhead he saves, believes he is the one to save her people.
As Kjell learns to embrace his destiny and his gift, he begins to depend more on Sasha and her unquenchable belief in him. Will he still be standing after Sasha’s secret threatens to destroy the future he was beginning to hope for? With lush, enchanting prose and a well crafted fantasy world, I recommend The Queen and the Cure ALL DAY LONG. Buy it.
North to You
Released on: 6/5/2017

Genre: New Adult Romance
Rating: 3.5 Paninis
Recommended for: anyone who has eaten at a food truck
Who hasn’t imagined running into your high school crush now? Of course, you’d look fabulous and be charmingly witty, making him wish he could turn back time to when he stood a chance with you. Camille and Drew quite literally run into each other at a festival in San Francisco ten years after Camille left school one day to never return. Now, Camille is back living in SF running her own food truck and Drew is on a month long leave before deploying to Iraq. They want to rekindle their old flame, but, with a deadline looming, Camille sets a ground rule: no talking about anything real. I think Camille needs to read a few romance novels, because this is guaranteed to go wrong. And it does, when she unknowingly parks her food truck in front of Drew’s family’s (under construction to save it) restaurant.
North to You was a quick romantic read with a lot of heart, perfect for summer. I look forward to reading more as the series continues (the next book is called East in Paradise). Now good luck getting through it without having to hunting down your favorite gourmet grilled cheese food truck. Buy it.
