Worlds Are Colliding: Chip & Joanna of Fixer Upper have a new Target Line!

in Life on 11/09/17 by Nikki Leave a Comment

If you love HGTV and the ship-lapped walls of Fixer Upper and haven’t been living under a rock, you know that Chip and Joanna Gaines, the hosts of Fixer Upper have announced the next season of the show will be their last *cue wailing and gnashing of teeth.* Why would they be quitting their show (money!) when it’s so popular? You know Chip probably sits in the basement of the Silos in his unders printing money. Well, probably because (money!) they have a billion side projects, not to mention the actual Reno and Decorating business that made them megastars, the Silos, the bake shop, the annual Silobration, the Bed and Breakfast, the real estate biz, the wallpaper and paint endorsements, the furniture lines, Chips burgeoning publishing career (Capital Gaines, yall!) and well, about a million other things. Oh and their family. And money.

When it was announced a few months back that Chip and Jo would launch a line with Target called Hearth and Hand, I was practically George Costanza-ing all over the place. WORLDS ARE COLLIDING!

Chip and Joanna of Fixer Upper plus everyone’s personal heaven, and the recipient of a weekly (sometimes daily) portion of my paycheck would come together in a holy union of mass merchandising in middle America and modern farmhouse chic design? Where do I get in line!?

For weeks I’ve prowled the aisles waiting for any sign of the new line. I combed the internets and the social media for clues on when I should alert my bank to an upcoming massive charge from Target and no, it’s not fraud. And then I saw this on Chip Gaines’ Twitter (oh what, you don’t follow Chip?)

Y’all aren’t going to believe this.. https://t.co/LTdfl8fbmz

And I clicked through to this post on Target’s corporate blog (what, you don’t read Target’s corporate blog?!) and saw this preview photo:
Fixer Upper, Hearth and Hand, Chip and Joanna

Cue me and Joe on one of our many weekly trips to Target and what do I see? A house-shaped display covered in tarp in the middle of the home goods section. YAAASSSSSS KWEEN, Hearth and Home was on it’s way to Los Angeles! To Joe’s embarrassment, I even peeked between the openings of the tarp to see what lie beneath (empty shelves). We checked back on every Target trip and finally, on Sunday the tarp had vanished and the goods were on display!!!

Let me tell you… there are some GREAT products… and there are some… ok ones. But the scale definitely tips towards great. Let’s walk through some of my faves… (click on the images to open the galleries)

Home Stuff!

I got some Hanukkah vibes but also love that you can switch out the greenery in the bottom per season
Give me anything white with a tiny X cross. ANYTHING, I’ll buy it.
Welcome to my fake Fixer Upper home!
The lyrics to the Fixer Upper theme song, obvi. (not)

This awesome storage bag is collapsible
I don’t have a working fireplace but I love this piece. The top and bottom function separately as well.
Again with the crosses and this wood trivet / tray is great

Kitchen and Dining Stuff!

This matte black stuff is so on trend
LOVE this kind of hand shaped earthenware look
SEE THE PLATE WITH THE CROSSES?!
Acacia wood live edge cutting board!

Holiday Stuff!

I would hang this outside my door year ’round
Advent Calendar!
Oh hi crosses
Cue Father Christmas

Almost bought one of these from Terrain last year for mucho dollars. Glad I waited!
YESSSSS
I just love this little bell ornament

Kids Stuff!

I don’t even have kids and I was like, this is pretty great! I do have a niece and nephew though and I would defs consider gifts like:

A boys play work bench!
Wooden block advent calendar!
They have several cute wooden cooking toys that scream fancy “Melissa and Doug”
This doll house is to die for.

Accessories and whatnots

For your bits and bobs
Get these for your man (or lady friend who liked wood working)
Loooving this bag
Who doesn’t need a copy of Capital Gaines in their home library? Especially with that surprised/constipated face Chip is serving the camera

The not so great stuff…

Looks pretty in the imagery but SKIMPY and cheap IRL.
Same, I don’t need a box of plastic greenery.
Who needs to buy “Hearth and Hand” tapers? Why??

.
Some definite hits and some yea, I’m not THAT farmhouse chic misses for me, but overall a great first outing for a Target collection. A lot of the signage said “limited time” but I really hope Chip and Joanna create ongoing collections with Target.

Head to your nearest Target or go online and buy ALL the Hearth and Hand things!
