Flavor #1: Everything Bagel
I thought this would be really tasty; it wasn’t. It was a very odd mashup of olive oil and poppy seed, with a side of sour cream and onion flavor. Maybe I wasn’t a fan because they were kettle cooked, or maybe it’s because they just weren’t good. I have a discerning palate lot of love for potato chips, and these weren’t my jam.
Flavor #2: Crispy Taco
These sounded promising. Tacos are the best of everything on the planet – vegetables, meat, carbs and dairy all together in layered yumminess. I live in Texas, and we have amazing tacos pretty much anywhere you go. I was expecting these chips to be exceptional. They were just ok. I could taste the taco seasoning, along with some sour cream flavor, but I didn’t get a flavor explosion like I expected.
Flavor #3: Fried Green Tomato
I will admit that these sounded terrible. I love tomatoes, but not green and not fried. I tried them one day at lunch at my desk and I think I startled my coworker in the next cube when I gushed about how delicious they were. She said they sounded disgusting, but I had already eaten them all don’t share chips with anyone, including my kids, so I didn’t give her one to try. They were wavy, and they tasted salty and savory and wonderful.
So voting commenced, and since I basically forgot about doing it, I only voted once, instead of once a day. Obviously I am part of the reason why my favorite flavor didn’t win, and instead the taco chip creator got the million-dollar prize. That’s right…the winner of the “Do Us a Flavor” contest got a MILLION DOLLARS. For a flavor of chips. I don’t even have words for that. Honestly, I’m jealous.
I am sad that my favorite flavor didn’t win, and now I am not sure I’ll try the next flavors that come out, only to have my favorite snatched away. Just kidding…I love chips too much not to try them.
What was your favorite flavor from this summer’s contest? Are you as sad as we are that the Fried Green Tomato flavor wasn’t the winner?
