That show… SALVATION… and I’ll give you three reasons why it may just be the new sleeper hit series this summer.
Dramatic, Suspenseful Thriller
“In 186 days, an asteroid is going to collide with Earth and we’re all going to die”— if that isn’t what summer television is all about I don’t know what is! End of the world shows are huge draws, I need only mention series like The Walking Dead, The 100, and Last Ship to illustrate that this kind of plot makes good TV! The premise isn’t necessarily new, but the focus being on how to stop the impending doom all whilst keeping it a secret from everyone is what might make this one different enough to stand out.
Santiago Cabrera
I will admit I’ve grown a not so slight crush on this super sexy Chilean man. He is also currently starring in the latest Transformers movie and originally made a name for himself as beloved Isaac Mendez in Heroes. A huge leap from his recent role as swashbuckling Romeo, Aramis is Netflix/BBC’s The Musketeers, he stars as the tech billionaire, getting his ego stroked while he attempts to save the human race from a pesky asteroid.
Not to mention his instagram is filled with all kinds of cuteness with pictures of his little guy and that just makes me love him all the more.
Strong Female Lead
CBS hopes to cash in by giving us the strong, smart, professional but still sexy female lead in Jennifer Finnigan’s character Grace Barrows.
Grace Barrows, the Pentagon press secretary and a single mom who deftly navigates the complicated waters of both jobs. Her world is turned upside down when she learns a deadly asteroid is heading toward Earth. Brought into the government’s secret task force to save humanity, Grace struggles to keep the secret from the ones she loves and finds herself tested in ways she never imagined”
We can all hope that they do as well as NBC has with Taken’s Christina Hart so wonderfully portrayed by Jennifer Beals.
Have you caught the trailer for Salvation? What are your thoughts, are you as excited as I am for the premiere??
