Playing House: Proof We Should All Move in With Our Best Friend

in TV on 06/29/17 by Emily L Leave a Comment

Playing House, created by and starring Lennon Parham and Jessica St. Clair, returned to USA this past Friday and if you aren’t watching this show, we need to change that quick.

It’s about two childhood friends reunited by circumstance as adults, based on Parham and St. Clair’s real life friendship which makes it all the more compelling and laugh-out-loud-level funny. Seriously, I lol-ed like 7 times during my binge of the first half of season three (for reference that’s only 4 episodes so that’s a pretty good ratio). And not the kind of lol you fake in a text message. The kind where I worried that my neighbors might judge me.

If you haven’t heard of the show, I suggest taking the time to go back and watch seasons one and two. This show is female driven comedy at it’s best. It promotes friendship between women and proves that while we might need help sometimes, ladies are doing it for themselves. The supporting cast is sprinkled with stars: Keegan-Michael Key, Zach Woods, Jane Kaczmarek, Bobby Moynihan, Kenny Loggins!? If any of those people don’t entice you then I give up.

There are more quotable one-liners in this show than any tinder boy-toy can spit out, but that doesn’t mean this show lacks depth. Season 3 tackles how to deal when someone you love gets sick, how to come back from a divorce, and at the core of this show it reminds it’s audience that life is meant for living. And a true friend is right there living it with you. Watching this show makes me want to move in with my best friend or at the very least call her to tell her how much I love her. Here are some reasons season 3 of Playing House gives us to move in with your bestie:

source

  1. A best friend knows the answer to the question, “do penises age?”
  2. They leave out trays of artisanal cheese for you when you come home from a sexy date.
  3. They’ll verbally abuse your guests when game night isn’t going as planned.
  4. Using Self Defense for Moms they can beat up any intruder who dares enter your home.
  5. A best friend will sacrifice your face to boost their MLM makeup sales.
  6. They’ll tell you when it’s not about you (which is pretty much always).
  7. A best friend is up to date on all vampire/werewolf lore.
  8. A bestie isn’t afraid to teach you life lessons in the middle of a restaurant.
  9. They’ll tell you to go for the hot doctor you work with by charming him with your signature body rolls.
  10. They’ll break their leg for you (or at least offer).
  11. A true friend will make an unnecessary doctor appointment just to scope out said hot doctor you’ve been crushing on.
  12. They’ll tell you everything will be ok even when they don’t know; they just believe.
  13. They’re there with you through everything.

So, everyone, go call your bestie and give them some love.

Playing House airs Fridays at 11 & 11:30 pm est on USA.

Lucky you: All episodes of season 3 are available to stream on demand or on usanetwork.com/playinghouse.
