The Gifted
They don’t want you to call it the X-Men show because this takes place after all of that. The Gifted is a show about a family who discover their kids have mutant powers after an incident at school. Mom is played by Angel alum Amy Acker and Dad is True Blood hottie Stephen Moyer and real life husband of X-Men Rogue, Anna Paquin. It’ll be interesting to see where this show could go.
Ghosted
In Ghosted, a sci-fi buddy comedy, Craig Robinson and Adam Scott star as two opposites who are recruited by “Bureau Underground” and tasked to save the human race from aliens. The pair are sent to investigate paranormal cases and must look into all of the “unexplained” activity in Los Angeles to uncover the truth. A Men In Black tv show? I’m not sure I’m sold on this one.
The Oroville
As I said earlier, it looks like The Oroville is what would happen if Galaxy Quest captain Jason Nesmith were played by Seth MacFarlane and not Tim Allen. The pilot is directed by Jon Favreau so it looks like it could be a more comedic take on Star Trek. Seth MacFarlane plays Planetary Union Officer Ed Mercer who commands the USS Orville but his ex-wife Kelly Grayson, played by Adrianne Palicki, is assigned to be his First Officer. I guess that means Hunter and Bobbi are never coming back to Agents of Shield (sad face!). Also in the trailer was Victor Garbor, who is cheating on the Wave Rider and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow but I think it might be just a guest role for the pilot. It looks funny and I’m intrigued to see where the show could perhaps, boldly go… Too much?
The Resident
In the realm of new medical offerings, we meet Dr. Conrad Hawkins played by Matt Czurchry, a third-year resident at Chastain Park Memorial Hospital in The Resident. He is arrogant, unconventional and when assigned to first-year residents like Dr. Devon Pravesh, Hawkins pushes the idealist perhaps a little too far. Also in the cast is Emily VanCamp from Revenge. The show looks good and could be the next Grey’s Anatomy.
LA to Vegas
Dylan McDermott plays the pilot in this comedy about the flight crew on Jackpot Airlines, a budget carrier whose only flight is LA to Vegas and back. I’ll be honest, this show doesn’t at all look like my cup of tea, but maybe it’s yours.
