Yeah it’s a terrible name. And I had to Google the 5 Senses because it’s been awhile since I was in 2nd grade. But, here we are:
Must See (Must watch)
Two Friday nights ago I did the normal in-my-30s-what-else-would-I-do thang and worked until 7 pm, made a huge pot of stew, drank 3/4 of a bottle of wine and plopped myself in front of the TV . I wore zero green (It WAS St. Patrick’s Day). And I discovered Crazy Ex Girlfriend.
What the hell guys? Why aren’t we all watching this and breaking it down week by week on the Internet?
Jamie introduced us to Crazy Ex Girlfriend back in October of 2015. Like the good TN editor/Friend I am, I didn’t read it.
The show follows Rebecca Bunch, an attorney on partner track in NYC, who runs into a ex on the street- an ex from summer camp when she was 16. She’s so stricken with love (and tired of her insomnia and generally miserableness with life) that she moves herself West Covina, California- a beautiful suburb 2 hours from the beach (4 with traffic) to work at a local in-town law firm. “Coincidentally”, her summer camp ex, Josh, lives there too.
What ensues is a hilarious tale of a pretty-crazy-former-New-Yorker stalking her ex, finding new friends, new love and, yes, occasionally breaking into song. Oh yeah, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend is a MUSICAL. I’m about halfway through the first season (It’s on Netflix) but there is a second season that aired on The CW last Fall and a 3rd has been scheduled.
This is my favorite song to date:
And this is an ol’ classic:
Bonus MUST WATCH:
Easy on Netflix. THIS SHOW, GUYS. It’s so amazing. About sex, love, relationships, dysfunction. Stars a bunch of famous people. More to come on it SOON.
Must Hear (Must Listen)
I’ve recently started listening to the Dear Sugar podcast which is hosted by authors Cheryl Strayed and Steve Almond. Listeners send in their relationship questions and Cheryl and Steve answer them on-air, sometimes with a guest. What follows are real, deep, interesting conversations full of empathy and non-answers (many times) to life’s complicated relational questions. Even if the conversations don’t directly relate to something I’ve gone through, I come away thinking deeply and differently about one of the most puzzling parts of life- humans! And our interactions with each other.
The latest episode I listened to HAUNTED BY GHOSTING was a great conversation about “‘Ghosting” (disappearing from someone’s life without a trace) in the romantic/sexual sense, as well as in friendship. Basically what they all agreed on was that ghosting has very little to do with the person who has been “ghosted,” and much more to do with the deep, unresolved emotional issues and anxieties of the “ghoster.”
BONUS MUST LISTEN
The tiny desk concert winners from NPR: Tank and the Bangas. Here is their winning entry and if you can find 20+ minutes, watch their entire Tiny Desk Concert!
Plus my favorite LAURA MARLING has a new album! It’s great! I love it! Listen now!
Must taste
Honey Lime Chicken with snow peas over Jasmine Rice.
But pysch guys: I don’t eat Chicken. I have been loving Hello Fresh lately, but I accidentally got a CLASSIC box recently which had meat items (and I’m a pescetarian). But I made do, threw that chicken in the freezer and substituted shrimp. IT WAS SO GOOD.
Jasmine rice is so simple, yet full of so much flavor. And snow peas are like CANDY.
Plus the soy + honey + ginger + garlic makes an incredible glaze for your protein. I highly highly recommend you make this meal immediately with plenty of extras so you can have it for lunch in the days following.
Sweet as Honey Chicken Recipe here. Note: I substituted about 3/4 lb shrimp (for 2 people), and Hello Fresh has introduced me to these AMAZING stock concentrate packets which is about 2 tsp of concentrate. Haven’t tried Hello Fresh yet!? Use my link for $40 off your first box! It’s SO good!
Must Touch
I was one of the lucky ones served an ad on Facebook advertising the Girlfriend Collective and their “free leggings- just pay for shipping” and so I did and like 6-8 weeks later I GOT THE BEST LEGGINGS OF ALL TIME.
They ran this promotion for SIX MONTHS. But it’s over (sorry). But supposedly they will be selling their amazing, life-changing leggings SOON. And I will pay in excess of $80 for them. Maybe $88.

Must smell
This is my favorite candle of all time. I love it so much I barely light it because I’m afraid I’ll use it all. I’m so dumb.
And I just discovered they have REED DIFFUSER, so basically writing this post has completed my life.
Bonus Must Smell:
I made my own Swiffer Refill! It was very vinegary (but did a great job!) I used Recipe 3 here.
That’s what I’m watching, listening to, tasting, feeling and smelling these days! What about you?
