Read Part 1 of my review covering: Tom’s, Kiss My Face, Nubian Heritage and No Tox Life HERE!
To set this up, I usually “test” out the deodorant for weeks to sometimes months depending on how well they’re holding up.
Schmidt’s – Bergamot and Lime Jar
Besides sharing a name with the best character from New Girl, Schmidt’s is one of my favorite deodorants I have tried since I made the switch! I was dry, the scent was great, the product lasts a long time and the jar method makes for an interesting method of application (they include a tiny spatula). Even after leaving the jar in my car during the summer and it melting and changing consistency, the deo still worked AWESOME. They even have a little baby sized travel jar if you hit the road a lot. I will, however, be trying out the stick version next time as I’m not sure I want to have to keep washing my hands after applying and handling the deo each time.
Primal Pit Paste – Lavender Stick
This is high up on the list for it’s scent, the stick form and ability to last most of the day. BUUUTTT on the other side, the product is a bit hard and needs to be warmed before applied to your pit… plus I’m pretty sure this stuff discolored my arm pits… not terribly but they were definitely darker while using this product and I’m still trying to go back. OOPS!
Alba Botanica – Tea Tree Stick
Before going on a trip in the fall, I was perusing the aisles of 365 and noticed they had a travel sized section of personal products and what do you know, there was a mini deodorant by Alba Botanica who puts out other great products. I snatched it up and threw it in my bag for the trip. A few hours into test driving I knew this was not going to be a long term solution. While I LOVE that Alba Botanica’s deodorant is a CLEAR stick (hallelujah!) and had a strong but not over powering Tea Tree scent, it just was NOT cutting it in the sweat department. I had to employ multiple applications and even then… * sad trombone*. If Alba or another deodorant maker creates a clear stick that WORKS, I am ON BOARD.
Over the next few months I plan to try out a stick of Schmidt’s to see if I can recreate the magic plus over Christmas, I was given a stick of Earth Science in my stocking (what a thoughtful Santa!) that is calling my name!
Beyond the tips I shared in Part 1, this is what I know about “Natural Deodorant:”
1. Apply often and at night!
2. Look at the labels! The term “natural” is misleading.
3. Your pits are gonna be sooooo soft!
4. People WANT to talk about “natural” deodorant – My Part 1 post was one of my most commented on posts, plus I’ve talked to tons of readers throughout the year about their switch and which products they like.
5. As much as I want to try making my own deo, I’m not sure it’s cost effective for one person. Should I?
6. I have NAILED spelling Deodorant ever since starting this journey!
What “natural” deodorant brands have you tried? What should I try next?
