The Ladies of Girls
Girls has been know to be a little problematic in their last five seasons, but coming on Feb. 12, the final sixth season is airing on HBO. I have watched the show since the beginning and am looking forward to seeing how the series will end and where all the girls will end up. Let’s face it, watching Hannah, Marnie, Jessa and Shosh make bad decisions made us feel a little better about ourselves. Therefore, I am excited to see them return for the last time and go out with a bang.
Claire Fraser, Outlander
Outlander is one of my favorite shows and I can’t wait until I get to see Dr. Claire becoming a surgeon. And also her finding A. Malcom #printshopiscoming. There are so many awesome moments for Claire coming up in this next season from becoming a mother to fighting pirates to shipwrecks. And I canna wait to see them.
Jane Villanueva, Jane the Virgin
Jane is coming back Jan. 23 on the CW for even more craziness. Jane will be back with more family drama, probably dealing with some crazy drug smugglers again and just plain ole’ married life. I thought that I would get bored with the show once Jane and Micheal got married, but it still keeps me coming back for more with its quick humor and telenovela style spoofs. I can’t wait to see Jane (and all her alter egos) back.
Offred, The Handmaid’s Tale
This show might actually make me want to get Hulu on April 26. I don’t know too much about it or Offred, since I didn’t read the book, but I am really excited to see her in this show as the quietly rebellious women in a world where women’s rights have become nonexistent. This show might hit a little close to home given the threat to women’s rights in our political climate, but I am still excited to see these women fight for their rights on screen.
The Many Women of Orphan Black (most played by Tatiana Maslany)
This will be the show’s fifth and final season. I admit I lost a little interest in the show during last season, but I will never not be in awe of Tatiana’s talents for playing all the clones. She brings all the characters to life in such an incredible way that I really want to see how all the women clones end up at the end.
Dany and Sansa from Game of Thrones
While I will forever be interested in all of the women on the show, I feel like these two might have the most interesting story lines in the coming season. Dany is sailing across the sea (FINALLY) to claim the world for her own. Sansa is probably feeling a little jaded that her cousin brother Jon is now the King in the North and she isn’t. Even after she saved all their asses from a circle of death. I feel like she is up to something that won’t be really great for their brother and sister relationship and I can’t wait to see what it is this summer.
Abbi and Ilana, Broad City
This is one of my favorite girl power shows. They are just some normal girls in their twenties trying to figure out life in NYC. This season should be even better because they are filming after the election and I think that the girls will have a few things to say about it later this year.
Eleven, Stranger Things
This Eggo loving gal left us off with a (somewhat) mysterious fate at the end of season one. The next season jumps a few years into the future and I have a lot of questions about her. Is she living in the Upside Down? Will she have hair? Will we find out more about all the weird mind experiments that she went through? My questions are endless and I know I will binge it all when she and the show finally come back this year.
