Family tragedies the last three Christmases in a row have left me feeling pretty numb this year. And guess what? THAT’S OK! It’s totally fine if you’re not feeling the holiday’s this season. If you want to just sit this one out and pretend like it’s just another day. You do you.
But, if you’re like me and struggling to find the joy in your favorite holiday and wishing you could just bathe in some holiday spirit and feel jolly again, then That’s Normal has your back.
I asked our fabulous group of ladies what their favorite holiday songs were. Could be ANY song about the holidays (except “Baby, It’s Cold Outside.” Because, consent). My Christmas spirit may have left me high and dry, but these women sure didn’t.
So, sit back, listen, enjoy, and maybe leave those little Who’s alone. We can get through this holiday with the power of music (cue corny Hallmark Channel music and slowly pan the camera out).
Laura:
My absolute favorite is “Please Don’t Bomb Nobody This Holiday” by the Dan Band.
Carrie Jo:
It’s a toss up for me–between anything Amy Grant put on a Christmas album (hello, Christian kid from the 90’s!) and “All I Want for Christmas is You”–cliche but I’ll own it!
Amy:
Boston Pops “Sleigh Ride”. Because, I like a good whip.
Bri:
Bing Crosby’s “White Christmas”, because it’s a classic and reminds me of my Grandpi. Also, “Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays” because it’s NSYNC and awesome.
Patricia:
Just about any song by Pentatonix, but really the live version of “Mary Did You Know”.
Also a little “Carol of the Bells” by, wait for it…Trans-Siberian Orchestra
Danelle:
Hmmmm….mine is probably “Do You Hear What I Hear” or “I’ll Be Home for Christmas”…old school versions of them. Also, pretty much anything Michael Buble sings.
Bri:
Just thought of two more…”Love is Christmas” by Sara Bareilles and Kelly Clarkson’s version of “Grown Up Christmas List”…I find the older I’m getting the more sentimental I’m getting.
Courtney:
So cheesy, but I love it. Plus, Bruce is the Boss!! “Santa Claus is Coming To Town”.
Emily:
“Breath of Heaven” by Amy Grant and “Who Would Imagine a King” by Katherine McPhee. “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen” by Bare Naked Ladies and Sarah McLaughlin. “Someday at Christmas” by Andra Day and Stevie Wonder.
Jamie W.:
The only enjoyable two and a half minutes of the holiday season. “Dominick the Donkey”. LOL

Courtney:
Forget frosty!! I’m more into George’s frosted locks! “Last Christmas” by Wham!
Lorena:
The Idina Menzel and Michael Buble version of “Baby It’s Cold Outside” changes the lyrics to avoid consent issues. I do really like that version, but I really enjoy some John Denver & The Muppets.
Anne:
“Percy, the Puny Poinsettia”
Beth:
Full orchestral and choral versions of Carol of the Bells. GET IT MORMONS.
Emily:
These too: “All Alone On Christmas” and “What Christmas Means To Me” by Holiday Express.
