So onto some finale thoughts:
Geoffery Charles, we’re all wondering whether your mother is thinking the same thing. Especially since she knows now that you may be the one who has to leave Trenwith.
Elizabeth, are you cursing yourself out in your head right now? If you had just waited long enough–or, as Demelza said, made up your mind–you could have had Ross. Demelza is even planning to take herself out of the picture. But now that George is part of the equation, it’s going to be a BIT harder for you to turn a 180.
BEST MOMENT OF THE FINALE. You go get some, Caroline!
I was so excited by this turn of events. Not the Dwight going to war part. (You better not have killed him, Winston Graham!) But the secret wedding, makeshift wedding ring, let’s-spend-our-last-night-together parts? SWOON!
Demelza has become the queen of one-liners. I wonder if the one night with Elizabeth was worth the wrath she keeps flinging at him?
I love that for all her anger, Demelza never loses sight of what is most important. She might want to strangle Ross, but she will still stand by him publicly when he’s quelling a riot.
Speaking of quelling a riot–George, are you paying attention? One word from Ross and he quells a riot. It’s also proof he could start one if you push him far enough. Be afraid. All the boxing-that-looks-like-dork-dancing lessons in the world won’t help you against that many “lowly peasants.”
You called it, guys. The baby daddy might be Ross. And Elizabeth, who has lived long enough to learn about the facts of life, is surprised to find out that her night with Ross may have produced an unintended consequence.
Ok, seriously, this level of arrogance goes beyond unattractive to makes-me-stabby. Ross, how can you be surprised by this? You slept with another woman even though your wife begged you not to. No one likes to feel like a B-list choice in her role as your wife.
Ok, finally, you’ve said something worth saying. Why you didn’t say it two episodes ago is beyond me, but this is at least some semblance of sense.
Romelza is back!
I think. I’m not naive enough to believe that because Ross made a pretty speech and Demelza is willing to kiss and cuddle on the cliffs that everything will miraculously be reset between them. Even her expression says as much.
So what did you think of the finale? Favorite moments? Which ships have sailed? Which characters are you loving together? Are you excited for next season?
