Evan Peters You Are Fabulous
Last episode there was a quick line about the Mott family building the house. Mott. Does that name sound familiar? Well it should. Dandy Mott was our happy little pyscho in AHS Freak Show.
We got to see the roots of the Mott family tree with Edward Phillpe Mott (Evan Peters) and boy does the crazy run deep with that family. Edward Mott was all about art and left his wife and kid in Philadelphia. He had the house built as a showcase for his art, and then moved in with his servants. One sevant in particular though had a pretty personal relationship with Mr. Mott. Edward and his “man servant” Guiness were lovers and not at all shy about their relationship status. This episode we had a historian telling the story of Edward Mott. We find out that on his second night in the house (during that Dying Grass Moon thing) all of the art work that Edward loved so much was destroyed. Convinced that the servants did it in retailiation against his relationship with Guiness, Edward locked all the servants up in the root cellar and told them they would stay there until the until they outed the “murderer”. Pretty harsh right? But the best part is watching Edward’s Dandy style hissy fits. Foot stomping and all.
Sadly, later that night The Butcher killed Ol’ Eddie. Happily, Guiness got away, but was later arrested and charged with Edward’s death. Oddly, he never mentioned the servants in the root cellar.
are we watching the ring?!
Oh. My. God. That creepy crawling girl THING that snatched Flora!!! I jumped about ten feet in my bed and scooped up my little baby dog to protect her from that thing. It scared the poops out of me. I made a gif so we could “pin down” what she/it looked like.
Who the hell knows. This thing is just terrifying. She moved like the girl from the ring. That movie scared me so bad I slept with the lights on and a blanket over my TV for three months. I still can’t watch it.
But whatever this crazy scary thing is, it worked in concert with a few other spirits to herd Matt, Shelby, and Flora down into the basement. Once they were trapped the ever wonderful Edward showed up to show them how to escape the basement using the old tunnels he had dug (so he could protect his art in case of a robbery. Too bad he didn’t have ghost butcher protection). Shelby asks Edward why he is helping them. Which annoyed me, look Shel, someone is helping you out. Accept it and keep on moving. Edward tells her basically that he doesn’t want to deal with their ghosts in his house. Which was a really good line. One of my favorite parts of this show (besides the bathtub scene with Edward and Guiness) was the flashes over Edward’s face. It was so good and creepy. I LOVED IT. Here’s a look at what I’m talking about.
So Edward gets our gang out in the woods and then Shelby annoyed him enough to strand them out there. Nice one Shel.
ahs ruined jerky for me
Shelby and Matt are walking around the woods with Flora and they get snatched by the gross rednecks that tried to buy the house to begin with. The wake up in a shed and see Elias on a table begging to be killed. Apparently, Mama cut his leg and arm off after the scooped him up and patched him up. Why would she start hacking body parts off?
Enter Mama (Francis Polk) offering Matt and crew some jerky. They politely decline. Good call, guys. Probably the smartest decision they’ve made yet. Mama gets all offended and then bites into the jerky and spits it out, proclaiming it spoiled. That Elias is spoiled meat. Maybe this is another clue that he’s actually dead? Can you cook someone’s ghost and jerky the meat? That may be the grossest thing I have ever wrote.
Mama fills us in on the Polk family. She made a deal with The Butcher that they would bring her “fresh blood” every year for her protection. So, our crew gets loaded up into the family redneck pick-up and toted back over to the house for some sacrificing. On the way there Matt tries to get his family free but only ends up killing one of Mama’s sons and pissed her off enough to smash Shelby’s ankle with a sledge hammer. Nice one, Matt.
getting stabbed in the back
Upon arrival The Butcher immediately goes to kill Flora first, because she’s a dick like that. That’s when her son, you know the one she murdered, stabs her in the back and tackles his mother into the fire. Why did he do that? It might be because The Butcher made a point of talking to Mama about how hard the death of a child is on a mother. Yeah, not a happy move Butcher, considering you murdered your son with zero feelings on the matter. So the colonists untie the group and let them get away, which is the perfect moment when Lee, the other person who was stabbed in the back, shows up in a burned out car to shepherd them away to safety.
Lee was detained for forty-eight hours by the police and went with a police officer back to the house only to be ditched by said cop. Which makes you wonder, do the cops know the terrible ghostly things that happen there? Because even after he saw the fire and the mob, he took off faster than you can say “Bye Felicia!” Interesting, right?
they finally freaking leave!!
Finally, that moment I have been screaming for since the beginning since the very first episode happens. Matt and Shelby leave the house for good. They move into a cheap motel for the night, after a stop at the hospital. So, they’re gone for good.
I cannot wait until next week to see what happens next. Here’s my short list for what I want from the next episode.
- Are we going to get more Edward Mott?
- Is Lady Gaga coming back? If so, can we please get a name for her?
- Is Shelby and Matt’s story line over?
- Does someone else buy the house?
On a scale of 1 to 10 how much did you love this episode?
