So here’s a quick recap of all of my WTF(?!?!) moments from last night’s Poldark Season premiere:
(Note: I know the TV show is based off a 12-book [!] series. I’ve read the first two and purposely decided not to read book three until AFTER this season of the show airs. I can’t possibly be the only TN reader who has made this choice. For those who know what happens to the Poldark family for generations to come, please don’t spoil anything that Aidan Turner hasn’t acted out on screen for the rest of us.)
When you might hang, mining is the best solution, right?
It’s not what I would be doing, but anything that gets Aidan Turner shirtless is a win with most of the viewing audience, am I right? Also, did anyone else think it crazy that they just told Ross when his trial was going to be and expected him to present himself at the jail???
Why do all these men hanker after Elizabeth? She’s a lot of smiles and suggestion, but she never delivers.

Or do you think it’s the fact that she never delivers that makes her so desirable? And did anyone else think that Elizabeth might need to come to grips with the idea that she’s not as good at manipulation as she wants to be? Stringing along Ross AND George in front of her suicidal husband can’t be a good plan.
Speaking of suicidal:
Did anyone else think this was really going to be it for Francis? (I did!) I just hope he starts to take some responsibility and, you know, DOES SOMETHING from here on out.
Chemistry is everything.
Say what you want about what makes a TV show successful or not—the chemistry between the two main actors can salvage just about anything.
All Ross had to do was make a pretty speech with his pretty face and he got a get-out-of-jail-free card?
Did anyone else think that his acquittal was a little weak?
Poldark Baby #2 is on the way, but Ross isn’t all that excited about the idea.
Which, you know, is somewhat understandable in light of everything that’s been happening to them.
So what did you think of the Poldark premiere? Want to fangirl? Yell about something? Make predictions? Aaaaand, go!
