Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi created a mockumentary style short film called Team Thor that was first seen at Comic Con back in July. It’s now online and it will brighten the day of Marvel fans everywhere. Let’s face it, Captain America: Civil War was basically The Avengers 2 1/2, because almost every single Avenger was in it. Noticeably absent was everyone’s favorite Norse prince. But he was having adventures of his own!
He’s moved into an apartment with a man named Darryl, and he is thriving. Thor sends e-mails with Darryl’s aid, tucks Mjolnir in for cozy naps, gets coffee with Bruce Banner, and so much more. Most importantly, he is totally fine with the fact that he hasn’t been contacted about the fight that Tony and Steve are having. Totally. Fine.
If this short is any indication of what we can expect from Ragnarok, I think at the very least it’s going to be a blast to watch. On the other hand, this could have just been for fun and may have nothing to do with the tone of the actual film. I can appreciate the more serious style of some comic book movies, but all of my personal favorites so far have been the ones that have more of a sense of fun. We still have until November 3, 2017 to see where Thor: Ragnarok is going to fall on the scale. Over a year?! Unacceptable. This short will have to tide us over until we get a trailer. It will be one of the bonus features for Captain America: Civil War, which will be released on Digital HD on Friday.
Side note: I’m determined to make “Send a raven!” catch on somehow. I don’t even care if it’s in a context that makes sense, I’m going to make it happen.
