I was not entirely wrong in that assumption as you will soon see:
There’s car chases and shoot outs and explosions and hospital rooms and Sherlock looking ill and terrified and scruffy and very un-Sherlocky and IN PAIN, but I can sort of breathe because Captain John Watson of the Fifth Northumberland Fusiliers is obviously on the case and in addition to all of that, holy shit what an awesome slew of villains awaits us! I don’t know about you but I got major chills.
Here were some of my reactions to the trailer:
On Moriarty being back: Waaaaiiiittttt
On the new JOHN WATSON SWOONY HAIR SWOOP:
On BAMF Sherlock fighting baddies in the infamous purple shirt of sex (a fandom™):
On Mrs. Hudson taking Mycroft down: Damn Mrs. H,
On lots more MARYMARYMARYMARY:
And last but not least, the amazing Toby Jones as Culverton Smith.
How his laugh made me feel:
It was a big weekend for fans, especially fans of superheroes (Wonder Woman/Black Panther/Captain Marvel anyone? I AM 100% Fuck Yes) and also anyone who has a bad case of Cumberthirst because in addition to the Sherlock trailer they also released the newest Doctor Strange trailer which looks pretty awesome tbh (Aaaand also the definition of Your Fave Is Problematic for it’s whitewashing of Asian characters, which has already been discussed by people much smarter than me so I’ll just leave that here).
What did you think of the Sherlock trailer? Does Season Four look set to deliver on Moffat and Gatiss’ promise that it’s going to be the darkest one yet?
Amanda Abbington, who plays Mary Watson, says it’s going to be ‘groundbreaking’ tv. What do you think she means by that? Also what do you think the three thematic names for the season mean? What did you think of this interview Ben C did? I, to put it lightly, am intrigued. *gets Give Sherlock a Sex Life 2k17 printed on a t-shirt*
Let the speculation begin! This fandom is really unparalleled at producing A+++ meta so I am excited to see what people get out of just this tiny window into the season so far. You guys can find me over on Twitter shouty capping about it for the next…oh, six months or so. Come join me!
