But WHYYYYY?!?!? WHY??!?!!?
I really, really… REALLY hope this is a creator decision and not a network decision. Because if so, I can appreciate when a show knows it’s perimeters and it knows when it’s time to hang it up and go home. According to Deadline here’s what the creators had to say about the end of Black Sails:
“It’s a rare privilege in television to be given the kind of creative freedom we’ve enjoyed on this show over the last four years,” said series co-creator and executive producer Jonathan E. Steinberg. “While it was a difficult decision for us to make this season our last, we simply couldn’t imagine anything beyond it that would make for a better ending to the story nor a more natural handoff to Treasure Island. We’d like to thank Chris, Carmi and everyone at Starz for all their faith and support, and to our astounding cast and crew for joining us on this ride.”
Ok, so fine… Black Sails is the kind of show that knows when it’s time to go home. They’ve drunk your booze, they’ve told some good stories, you laughed, they cried, now it’s time to get in your PJs and they realize that. But will they be able to cram all the stories in and tie up the loose ends like we fans want them to?
Here are my guesses and what needs to happen in Black Sails Season 4!
John Silver
We’ve only just begun to scratch the surface of Luke Arnold’s amazing portrayal of this infamous character. Will he end up in an alliance with Madi that’s more than just political? I MEAN.
Jack Rackham and Anne Bonny (and Max?!)
We know from history Rackham and Anne Bonny were eventually caught together (with another woman. MAX?!) and Anne was pregnant… WILL THAT HAPPEN THIS SEASON?! PLEASE TELL ME THIS HAPPENS. Tell me now! I need to prepare.
Billy Bones
Will Tom Hopper shoot another Men’s Health cover? This is a story arc on the show, right? The men of the Walrus and the ladies of Max’s brothel DEFINITELY have subscriptions.
Captain Flint
He’s definitely dying. If you think we’re going to get out of Season Four, the FINAL season of Black Sails, without Flint dying, you crazy gurl.
Eleanor
This biotch is going down, right? Unless she flip flops again and joins back up with the pirates as if it was all part of her plan from the beginning. OR she hops on the last ship out of town with Woodes Rogers and lives unhappily ever after in England as pirate survivors.
The Ghost of Charles Vane
Please say the entire show will be haunted by the ghost of Captain Vane. PLEASE.
I guess this is really happy after all and I am so sad, the last season of Black Sails was amazing and the entire series run has been amazing television. Farewell (after Season 4) Black Sails, we were just getting to know ye!
