And it’s coming back. Check out the trailer:
Season 2 looks just as dark, twisted, morose and tense as the first. You want to get excited about it with me?
5 Things to Love About Season 2 of Mr Robot
1. Christian Slater is back
Without spoiling anything from season 1, it was a safe assumption that we might not see the actual Mr. Robot this season. There was good reason to believe that he wouldn’t be able to … appear … in season 2 after some of those revelations. But THANK THOR, my #1 90’s crush is all up in this trailer. And this time, it looks like he’s really not pulling any punches. Or gun shots.
2. Sam Esmail is directing it all
Show-runner and creator, Sam Esmail, is helming the entire season from not only the executive producer’s suite, but from the director’s chair as well. In fact, he has said that they shot all ten episodes like a feature film instead of a television show. Location shoots for the entire season were done in one go. The table read lasted 12 hours. I love this idea because we are going to get an amazingly compelling season of television, instead of individual arcs per each episode.
3. Yes, that was Obama
I love a well-edited cameo, and it looks like the fsociety hack hit the highest levels of well … effing society. Now that the consequences of the hack have gone national, we get a whole new set of drama: Grace Gummer is stepping in to play an FBI agent after Elliot.
4. Real or Not Real?
Elliot’s delusions have colored all of season one (now that we know for sure he has them a lot more than he was letting on), and they’ll continue to plague the second season, and in a more meta way. We will learn about stuff from the first season that maybe/probably/totally didn’t happen IRL as we are bombarded with more of Elliot’s particular brand of genius crazy.
5. You have time to binge
Season 2 of Mr Robot premieres on USA on July 13, so you have plenty of time to get caught up on season 1. And do I have to mention again that it WON THE GOLDEN GLOBE for BEST DRAMA? It’s a fantastic freaking show. Go lose yourself in it. NOW. GO.
