Myspace had zero chill and even less irony
However I can, I need some way for every interaction I have on the internet to announce to the world on OCTOBER 11th WE ARE GETTING A NEW MELINA MARCHETTA NOVEL.
Maybe you don’t know how this affects those of us who love Marchetta and all of her words, so let me put it to you in the way you might understand. Getting a new Marchetta novel (which we haven’t had since September of 2012 when Quintana of Charyn came out and ended the greatest fantasy series of all time) is like if …
- … Fans of The Bachelor got to replace Chris Harrison at a rose ceremony and say, “This is the final Rose of the night.”
-
… Sense8 Fans got to virtual reality themselves into that German bath house.
- … Kit Harrington set up a Lord’s Kissing Booth at the next con.
- … Broadway babies got to watch Hamilton from the wings and got to hang out with the cast at Broadway Bowling League.
- … if you got to be the one Edward notices when he walks into the cafeteria.
- … if Outlander fans got their own waterweed scene reenactment with Sam Heughan on a bed of soft heather.
… my upcoming novel Tell the Truth, Shame the Devil (final title) will be released in Australia on the 1st of September by Penguin Books, and in the US on the 11 October by Little Brown, (Mulholland). I’ve seen mock up covers from both camps which is very exciting. Below is a synopsis I found on the Amazon site. It’s always interesting to read a description of your work written by someone else.
PS. I stole the title words from Shakespeare’s Henry IV Part 1. He stole them from Hugh Latimer. Hugh probably stole them from his mother.
In the wake of a devastating bombing, a father risks everything to find out who was responsible.
When Bish Ortley, a suspended cop, receives word that a bus carrying his daughter has been bombed, he rushes to be by her side. A suspect has already been singled out: a 17-year-old girl who has since disappeared from the scene.
The press has now revealed that she is the youngest member of one of London’s most notorious families. Thirteen years earlier, her grandfather set off a suicide bomb in a grocery store, a bomb her mother confessed to building. Has the girl decided to follow in their footsteps?
To find her, Bish must earn the trust of her friends and family, including her infamous mother, now serving a life sentence in prison. But even as he delves into the deadly bus attack that claimed five lives, the ghosts of older crimes become impossible to ignore.
A gripping fusion of literary suspense and family drama, TELL THE TRUTH, SHAME THE DEVIL is a fast-paced puzzle of a novel that will keep readers feverishly turning pages.
First of all, this is a suspense novel which we haven’t seen from Marchetta before, but if you read the Lumatere series, you understand how deftly she can leave you precipitating what’s next only to be floored by something better, smarter, and revealed with more patience than you thought possible.
And secondly, FAMILY DRAMA … no one does family drama better. Marchetta has a way of making you undersand the dynamics of your OWN family by investing yourself in the lives of her fictional ones. I think this book might truly wreck us.
And yes, you read those dates correctly. Australia is getting it over A MONTH before the United States does.
But don’t forget that Fishpond AND Book Depository will ship AU releases to the US. You don’t have to suffer alone, in wait. But that’s only if you can rein in your chill long enough for it to get to you. I don’t know if I can. MORE MARCHETTA WORDS. It’s everything.
So be prepared for Boozy Book Club‘s October pick (yes, that’s many months away) because it will be Tell the Truth, Shame the Devil FOR SURE.
