And then fans lost their shit and no one shows more anger with 140 characters and emojis than pissed off Outlander fans.
But Starz knew what they were doing when their next surprise came this morning:
#ViveLesFrasers! Head to @EW to see the official trailer for #Outlander, returning April 9. https://t.co/uahRH7Roeu pic.twitter.com/umDms946b1

Yes, Outlander is back April 9th and once again, you now have a legitimate reason to stay home on a Saturday night.
But if that wasn’t enough, Starz decided to give fans an early Valentine’s gift and posted the new trailer:
You can’t see it right now, but I’m giving this trailer a standing ovation. From the sets, to the costumes, to a more detailed storyline complete with Jamie and Claire’s struggle to stop Culloden and some new added twists (Murtagh confronting Claire about who she is and what she knows?!), to the return of Frank, this trailer had it all and once again reminded us why we love this show. I didn’t even mind the music.
So, tell the kids Mommy needs her quiet time and watch the trailer over and over again. Think of it as preseason training when Outlander comes back in April.
And while you’re here, check out some of my favorite moments from the trailer:
Bonjour, Madame Fraser. Toto, I don’t think we’re in Scotland anymore.
Wait! Murtagh knows how to write?! Plot twist #1.
This look. I’m all about this look.
I have a theory about what this is from and I’m not ready for it. All the feels. All of it.
He’s sweaty. He looks dirty. I’m sure there’s blood on him somehow. Welcome back, Smoldering Jamie. France suits you well.
I know everyone is up in arms about the red dress. But can we take a moment to appreciate this shot again? This year, I vow to rock yellow gloves no matter the outfit.
Well done, My Peak Challenge.
Cowgirl up, Claire. I would like to take a moment and thank the previews for the Wedding and Season 1 Part 2 for making me hone my pause at the right moment skills.
Claire: We have to trust in this.
Jamie: This I do, and in this I will.
*Hits the floor* *Crying*
Whoever designed this trailer, bravo on the footsteps being the only sound we hear over the title slide and then a cut to this face we have come to love and loathe. I hope they give you a big, fat raise and some time off. But not too much time because you rock at making trailers.
So, the question remains does this hospital scene between Claire and Frank happen in the first episode and if so, are we looking at Claire recalling her time in Paris to her estranged husband? Not awkward at all.
And yes, I did notice that Bree and Roger are not in the trailer, but simmer down. It’s all about Red Jamie and La Dame Blanche.
