Despite common belief, writing for this site is not my full-time occupation. As much as I would love to get paid to wax poetic about whatever show I just spent 18 straight hours watching, it hasn’t yet happened. However, there are jobs out there, where I longingly stare and wish that I could be paid to do that too. Man, I am suffering from major job envy and well, you can see why…
Geeky News
Some of my favorite fan theories are discussed, challenged and celebrated through Nerdist News. In fact, Jessica Chobot is one of my favorites to watch on the online network. She gets to explore, gush, poke-fun and talk geeky stuff daily which occasionally includes guests but always includes high production value and a glossy finish. Check out the channel to find her regularly chatting about Star Wars, Game of Thrones, Marvel, DC and other geeky pop culture main players. I’m just glad that nerd culture allows for a woman to be the face of these discussions (albeit, I do not typically read youtube comments, so I am likely turning a blind eye to the likely trolls.) While there are many hosts out there on different pop culture/entertainment news programs, what sets this apart, is that she genuinely seems like she is having the best time and talking about her own genuine interests.
Galactic Empire
What if you could work for the Galactic Empire Star Wars itself? I find myself coveting Andi Gutierrez’s job specifically as she has become the behind the scenes face of Star Wars Rebels Recon. If not familiar, after each episode of Star Wars Rebels, Andi Gutierrez gets to talk about the episode, interview the creators and voice actors all while wearing awesome Star Wars apparel. I believe she handles other social media items for the website, covers big Star Wars press events for the site, but her proximity to chopper is really where my envy lies. I’m sure she has tough days on the job, but it is hard to believe it isn’t mostly fun. Her job is awesome.
“Whine” Connoisseur
Source
I’m not quite sure how this series came about, but my guess is that one day at happy hour, Matt Bellassai’s coworkers decided that this material was too good not to be filmed and made into a weekly series on buzzfeed. Have you been introduced to Matt Bellassai’s series, Whine about it? How does one get paid to get drunk and complain about stuff? Please sign me up for that job. For a great introduction to his videos, check out this best of Whine About It post.
Which job would you want? Do you think any of these people get Sunday night panic attacks?
