Normal Fitness: Helping You Survive the Holidays Without Gaining 100 Pounds

in on 12/16/15 by Anne 7 Comments

It’s that time of year again. The magical month between Thanksgiving and Christmas when you’ve just consumed more calories in one meal than you normally do in a week, and your days are full of holiday parties and luncheons, eggnog and Christmas cookies. “The diet will start in January,” you tell yourself as you eat, drink, and are merry for days on end.

This is a busy time of year, and working out often falls to the back burner, but recently I’ve discovered Fitness Blender on YouTube, and it’s given me a renewed motivation to work out, which is something I think we could all use this time of year.

Fitness Blender offers over 350 free full length workout videos on YouTube, which means you could do a different workout every day for a year without having to repeat. You know what else is great? They have a wide array of workout options for you.  If you only have 10 minutes, they have a 10 minute arms workout. (Yep, that’s why we call this post Normal Fitness)

Have all the time in the world? Here’s a 1,000 calorie workout.

You can pick your workout type, focus area, length of time, and there is a workout video for it. There are videos that require zero workout equipment, and so far I haven’t encountered one that requires more than just a set of dumbbells.

Daniel and Kelly are the duo that lead your through the workouts, and they will kick your butt and leave you feeling good and sore. I like them because they aren’t annoying. They aren’t too peppy, and they don’t yell at you. They just lead you through good, hard workouts that don’t cost anything, and don’t require you to bundle up and brave the cold weather to head out to the gym.  Basically, it’s perfect for this time of year when you’re not ready to fully start that beginning of the year, serious commitment to working out, but also don’t want to turn into a giant lump of eggnog and fruitcake.

Now, if you’re ready to take your workout commitment to the next level, you can go to fitnessblender.com and sign up for an account, and purchase a 2, 4, or 8 week fitness program ($5, $10 and $15 respectively) which will give you an actual plan to follow, if that helps keep you motivated and on track. But lesbianhonest…that can probably wait til January.
