Something happened over the weekend and I’m using TN as an outlet to work through my mixed feelings and possible shame. Stephen Amell posted buff pics of himself and I did not find them attractive.
Believe me, I stared at these photos for several minutes just to make sure that was truly how I felt. Then another shirtless picture was posted to social media and I tried to like them, I really did.
Not since my discovery of the body oil shortage of the early 2000s, have I questioned my mega crush on this charming, fit man from Canada (that kind of reminds me of my ex-fiancé, but that’s a whole other therapy session.) Here I am, ready to hand in my Stephen Amell fan card that I designed, printed and laminated, when maybe this feeling is totally justified.
Exhibit A
Hey @RondaRousey — ME AND @jarpad say: JUST DO IT!!! pic.twitter.com/oHyY0bnyqe

Normally, Stephen and Jared being bros and hanging out is endearing. YAY friendship, but this weightlifter body pose does nothing for me. I keep staring at Stephen’s hands and what’s going on with his thumbs. I assume this is a pose that Ronda Rousey has done prior to a fight? Or this is a well known UFC thing? Just because I enjoy watching sports, does not make me a master of all. UFC is super popular to like as demonstrated by all the celebrity tweets. I’m all for girl power and good for Ronda Rousey and knocking her opponent out in less than 30 something seconds, but am I the only one that finds those fights more violent than I want and not in the least what you expected? I digress. So the picture is just so-so and I move on. Until this one is posted.
Exhibit B
Stay Sunday Strong. My buddy Jared Padalecki wants you to Always Keep Fighting. http://represent.com/jared

So the guys found a way to parlay their pecks and six packs into a plug for Jared’s charity, which is a great cause and something that is close to home for me as I have personally struggled with depression. For the sake of my argument, let’s put aside the charity aspect and just critique the photo. WHY ARE THEY POSING LIKE THIS? If you are going to give me veins, best it be the ones leading somewhere interesting…(bring yourself into the gutter and you will follow.) Perhaps it is weird pose, or the lack on arm or chest hair, the facial expression, but I’m not feeling this. [Side note: Yes, inevitable person to bring up that the guys are just goofing off and that he is likely totally hairless because of the make-up process during filming, I am aware.] Seriously you guys, the abs are ON POINT. Both men are incredibly hot and yet TURN OFF.
So, lesson learned my friends. Body Oil, Bad. Cheesy body-building posing, bad. V muscles and veins, good.
Am I crazy for not loving these photos? Can I still hold onto my fan card? Was this post just an excuse for me to post shirtless pics of Stephen Amell and Jared Padalecki?
