NERDHQ 2015 Recap: Mystery Panel

Each year at NerdHQ Zac puts together a panel of mystery guests. One year it was Stan Lee, another Tom Hiddleston, this year it was sampling of nerdy goodness including Yvette Nicole Brown, Scott Porter, Retta and from Once Upon a Time: Colin O’Donoghue, Jennifer Morrison & Josh Dallas.

This awesome panel was such a blast to witness.

 

Other than an Actor?

The best question was what career would they have chosen other than acting. This seems like a fairly innocuous question and you’d get the gammut of responses. Yvette wanted to be a teacher, Jennifer would have been an Interior Designer, Colin would have gone to Art School, Josh wanted to be an orchestra conductor (don’t ask him about his baton 😉 ) Retta was pre-med and was going to be a neuro-scientist. The most surprising however was QB1, Scott Porter who dropped out of his Structural Engineering program to become a professional beat-boxer… Scott is full of so many hidden talents. It was one of my favorite parts of the weekend.

 

If you watch Parks & Rec, you know that Donna has instituted Treat Yo Self day. It started long before P&R and Retta had to explain what the day was to Jennifer.

And then this moment happened:

Next question, you, in the nerd shirt, and not just because you bought my merchandise…

I got to ask my question since many of you know I missed Friday Night Lights the first time around and I’ve been rewatching Chuck to prepare for SDCC weekend. I asked them all what show they missed out on the first time, need to binge watch or are obsessed with. Retta and Yvette have decided they watch to much TV that they didn’t miss anything but Jennifer? She’s one of us and loves Outlander. And this is Colin calling her out on how much she talks about it. It was adorable!

 

Smiles for Smiles

For a quick $20 I was able to get a photo with Scott, Retta & Yvette. Where upon, Scott asked if I had seen The Wire, to which I had to sheepishly reply, No. He then insisted that by next NerdHQ, I must watch and then report back to him.
