Comic Con 2015: Outlander Panel, Season 2 Preview and more!

in on 07/13/15 by Bekah 27 Comments

If you read our SDCC Day 3 Recap, you know that Saturday at Comic Con was Outlander Day. And Tom Hiddleston Day and Champagne Day and Warner Brother’s Day. But also Outlander Day.

We kicked off the day with Julie running the press line for TN with on camera interviews with Sam, Caitriona, Diane and Ron (interviews coming soon!) and capped it off with the much anticipated panel in Ballroom 20, moderated by E’s Kristin Dos Santos.

We have to be honest, the panel felt a little flat to us. But we’ve all accepted that we might just be too *close* to Outlander to be not-biased and we were really, really missing Tobias. Kristin did a GREAT job keeping the energy up (helped by a bottle of Scotch) and the best part was the exclusive season 2 clips we got to see.

The worst part may have been seeing Sam in eyeliner (he lost a bet with Colin O’Donoghue because he won a sexy man award. It was confusing but funny nonetheless)

Outlander Panel Part 1

What you DIDN’T see is the gag reel we shared the other day and the Comic Con exclusive Sneak Peek at Season 2. Please feel free to tell us in the comments if we’ve used the correct form of “Peek.”

Unless someone illegally took a video from within the Ballroom, you will probably never get a chance to see the footage that we saw. Shows at Comic Con are usually SO quick to get their new content out online after their panel, that it was refreshing for Ron and Starz to TRULY give us something exclusive!

We saw France. We saw new outfits. It looked different. It looked emotional. There was sex. There were orgasm faces. There were new characters. It looks GREAT! A few thoughts from the team:

Bekah: I’m super excited about the new characters we saw on screen. And by characters I mean the hot new guys that we SAW and that Cait and Sam kept referencing.

Beth: Season 2 looks sexier and more intriguing … which is great because for a lot of people, Dragonfly is so political that it gets boring. But that just might mean it’s PERFECT for adaptation.

Jamie: FRANCE!! There is something about the vibrancy and jewel tones of the clip that has me psyched for the second season. It almost feels like coming out of a deep depression and learning to laugh again.

Nikki: I mostly appreciated that Comic Con trolled Outlander fans by first playing the clip sped up so everyone sounded like chipmunks!

Outlander Panel Part 2

There you have it! Apologies for the shaky camera- Operator error (mine)- and the loud typing of the TV Guide writer next to us. And because we haven’t re-watched the panel, apologies for any commentary you heard from myself or Beth…. We really tried to keep our mouths shut and opinions to ourselves.

We missed you Tobias!
