Boozy Book Club August: The Inheritance Trilogy and Sex Criminals, vol 1
You may have read my post about our epic quest to find the new Alexander Belov (from The Bronze Horseman series), better known as The Search for the New Shura. Since everyone felt very sorry for me, I started to get a recommendations from all over. Jamie sent me one that was this NPR list the same day for The Inheritance Trilogy by NK Jemisin, and it sparked something in me. Granted it’s not strictly historical boning … it’s definitely fantasy, but it looks GOOD.
So, our August book is the first in that series, entitled The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms. Here’s the official summary:
Yeine Darr is an outcast from the barbarian north. But when her mother dies under mysterious circumstances, she is summoned to the majestic city of Sky. There, to her shock, Yeine is named an heiress to the king. But the throne of the Hundred Thousand Kingdoms is not easily won, and Yeine is thrust into a vicious power struggle.
This link will take you to the amazon page for the entire trilogy (The Omnibus) for only $9.99. That’s a steal. Get it now and let’s get started!
Also, this month, our optional book is part of our perennial “Read Graphic Novels to Become Nerdier” effort … Sex Criminals, vol 1: One Weird Trick. Just reading the summary proves it is perfect for Boozy Book Club.
Suzie’s just a regular gal with an irregular gift: when she has sex, she stops time. One day she meets Jon and it turns out he has the same ability. And sooner or later they get around to using their gifts to do what we’d ALL do: rob a couple banks. A bawdy and brazen sex comedy for comics begins here!
I cannot WAIT to talk about this one. Live. Drunk. On the internet. For posterity.
Between now and the end of the month, what do you do to be a part of Boozy Book Club? Well, read the books. Talk to us on twitter using the hashtag #TNBookClub. And follow these links for forum discussions.

Last month, we read Go Set a Watchman by Harper Lee. Expect an epic review coming from Julie on that soon. And don’t miss our last quarter’s hangout, where we talked about our MAY book club pick, The Girl on the Train. You can watch that here or on YouTube.
