Married At First Sight: Moving In

This week our three couples moved in together. I think this is the most defining episode where we see the true colors of these couples. When this series ends I will point back to this episode t because here is were Sean & Davina and Ryan & Jessica hit the wall for me. It’s also the defining moment for Ryan & Jaclyn. With attitudes towards living situations and money we see what I think will make or break these couples. Normally, I’m all about giving these couples a fair shot, realizing what we see is a fraction of what actually happens, it’s all in the editing. But I just can’t anymore. I can’t with these couples who are are driving me up a wall.

NYC Rent

I lived in NYC for a long time, I lived in Queens, I lived in Jersey, I lived a few places in Manhattan. I understand how much rent is, how much rent used to be and how much rent is now.

What does Ryan D do that $4,000 in rent is no big deal? And I’m sorry, where are they looking that a 1 BR is $4,000 in Brooklyn?? Maybe because it’s like a one month lease? Because let’s be honest, this couple isn’t lasting after the experiment.

This couple has the worst communication. Jessica won’t stand up for herself and against Ryan? I’m sorry his temper makes me uneasy. I feel he can blow at any time. If Ryan can’t share a closet, marriage may not be for him.

It’s Manhattan, not Manitoba

Also not lasting through this experiment will Sean & Davina. I’m sorry Sean… Manhattan isn’t as horrible as you’re making it out to be.

Jersey isn’t all that (no offense any Jersey people) but the fuss he’s putting on about adjusting to Manhattan is so trivial. And Davina, honey… You could really chill out on Jersey, Manhattan shouldn’t be such a deal breaker for you, it’s great but get over it. You could make it work there too. I think you’re expecting way too much at 15 days in your marriage.  He’s not a mind reader and I think that you both have major trust issues. I really think it’s time for the experts to step in. I’d also like to point out they have stopped their kissy-face routine which, thank goodness I’m completely over.

I think he’s upset about Davina making more money than him. I think they are both such damaged goods that they can’t help each other grow.

I also think that it’s stupid he didn’t stay the first night in their apartment together. I get that he has to work the next morning, but let’s figure it out. Find out what your commute would be, leave a little earlier. Do you want this to work? Maybe it’s all in the editing but I don’t think so.

I’m betting on these two

Ryan & Jaclyn go apartment hunting and settle on Astoria, Queens. Great neighborhood, not a horrible commute for either of them. And this is coming from someone who has a Los Angeles commute!

They don’t need fancy sushi, just a pie and some good wine. Jaclyn’s switch has been flipped. She sees Ryan as more as her husband. It’s the same moment as last season when Jaime finally saw Doug. It’s the change of heart, a softening. And that is what the best relationships are built on.

You can see it on Jaclyn’s face. She’s got a crush on her husband. And he’s been kind and patient.

Do they actually consummate their marriage? I don’t care. It’s the right time for them and this couple waited for the right time for them.

Tonight’s episode

It’s New Year’s on tonight’s episode. It looks like there is going to be some crazy fight with Ryan D and Jessica. Sean & Davina get all kissy at some party. But Ryan and Jaclyn stay in.
