First, let me be upfront with you, dear readers, I have yet to see Hamilton. I really want to see Hamilton. I try really hard everyday to see Hamilton. In fact, I have become quite obsessed with Hamilton. And if you are saying to yourself, “Is she talking about founding father, Alexander Hamilton?” You would be correct. Well, sort of correct. I am talking about the off Broadway, soon to be on Broadway hit musical by Tony Award winning, Lin-Manuel Miranda. This sold out forever until it hits Broadway, (Hip-Hop) musical.
And if you are following me on twitter, you may have noticed that I enter a lottery called Hamilton for Hamilton. Basically, the only way to see Hamilton is to enter the daily lottery for last minute tickets (and it only costs $10). Although recent investigations prove that the best way to see it, is to go wait in line along with 200 other people and bring all your good luck charms.
Why is this the hottest ticket in town (laughing at myself for that cliche phrase)?
An early version of the first number was performed at the White house Poetry Jam. Here is Miranda in 2009 with some amazingly clever lyrics.
Perhaps is it is being raised in Philadelphia, the cradle of liberty (do I earn points for additional cliche phrases?), that piqued my interest in history. I think a love for musicals is part of your soul. Either you can accept a world with singing and dancing to express emotions (a place where I want to live) or you reject this reality. Basically, Hamilton seems like my happy place.
Anyone else feeling nostalgic about 1776?
Are you into musicals? Does this seem your speed? Will you stand in that 200 person line for me?
