Caitrionia Balfe talks about the sex and intimacy on Outlander

in on 04/09/15 by Bekah 39 Comments

If you watched Hangoutlander this week, you’ll know that Beth and I watched Outlander Episode 109 together in NYC during TartanAffair, somewhat cowering in our seats in awkwardness together during the sex scene. Yes, the two girls who read the most “romance”* out of all the TN readers, felt weird. Beth thinks it was because we were in a room full of heavy breathing Outlander fans**, but I think it was more than that. I was just STRUCK by how intimate it was. I don’t mean hot, and I don’t mean sexy. I mean intimate. It felt like we were peeking in on something we weren’t supposed to, and I sorta felt BAD about it.

I’m not saying it was a BAD thing. The fact I thought that is a complete testament to Caitriona and Sam’s abilities as actors to portray something that is usually not done so well on screen. And I got a chance to ask Caitriona about that scene, and more, last week.

Check it out:

Throughout the day we’ll be rolling out our one-on-one interviews with the cast. Look forward to more with Ron Moore, Gary Lewis, Lotte Verbeek, and, of course, the man himself, Sam Heughan.

What did you think about the SEX. Too intimate? Did you feel uncomfortable? Just right? Let us know in the comments!
