Boozy Book Club April Books

in on 04/01/15 by Anne Leave a Comment

Hey hey! Revamped Boozy Book Club is kicking off April and Julie and I will be your moderators this month.  We look forward to reading along and discussing our April books with you fine readers of That’s Normal.

MAIN BOOK FOR APRIL

Our main book for April is I Was Here by Gayle Forman. I Was Here

When her best friend Meg drinks a bottle of industrial-strength cleaner alone in a motel room, Cody is understandably shocked and devastated. She and Meg shared everything—so how was there no warning? But when Cody travels to Meg’s college town to pack up the belongings left behind, she discovers that there’s a lot that Meg never told her. About her old roommates, the sort of people Cody never would have met in her dead-end small town in Washington. About Ben McAllister, the boy with a guitar and a sneer, who broke Meg’s heart. And about an encrypted computer file that Cody can’t open—until she does, and suddenly everything Cody thought she knew about her best friend’s death gets thrown into question.

I Was Here is Gayle Forman at her finest, a taut, emotional, and ultimately redemptive story about redefining the meaning of family and finding a way to move forward even in the face of unspeakable loss.

I’m working through my first Gayle Forman right now: reading Just One Day and am really enjoying it, so I’m really looking forward to digging into I Was Here with you all!

OPTIONAL BOOK FOR APRIL

Our optional book for the month is  The Darkest Night by Gena Showalter.Darkets Night

His powers – Inhuman…
His passion – Beyond immortal…

All her life, Ashlyn Darrow has been tormented by voices from the past. To end the nightmare, she has come to Budapest seeking help from men rumored to have supernatural abilities, not knowing she’ll be swept into the arms of Maddox, their most dangerous member — a man trapped in a hell of his own.

Neither can resist the instant hunger than calms their torments… and ignites an irresistible passion. But every heated touch and burning kiss will edge them closer to destruction — and a soul-shattering test of love…
Though they carry an eternal curse, the Lords of the Underworld are irresistibly seductive — and unimaginably powerful…
