There’s this little thing called the Insurgent featurette:
I was with them all the way till when Theo says “Naomi Watts is going to be playing my mom.” The look Theo gives the off screen interviewer is EXACTLY the look I just gave YouTube. * MEGA SIDE EYE *
Baking powder? Excuse moi? Pardon? Yes, Theo… THIS is your mother:
The woman who looks like she could be your ex-girlfriend from junior year but you broke up because you were too committed to your music and you just didn’t have extra time in your life for distractions.
Oh hey Hazel Grace, you must have made a wrong turn after getting off the airplane in Amsterdam.
All was good and well, then THIS thing showed up. Cue Veronica Roth telling us “this is the box.” Clearly. So from Veronica’s description, they created the Box as a device to speed things up as it combines her favorite scenes and “bring everything together?” Welllll, I guess this is a we’ll have to wait a see moment. Kinda like when we broke down the first Insurgent trailer and we kept asking each other, “that’s happens in the book?” They’ve taken some artistic liberties here but we’re all for that if they’re good. As we’ll most defs be behind any artistic liberties they decide to take in Allegiant. Ahem.
Along with this featurette, The Today Show sent Jenna Bush to the set of Insurgent to take a look behind the scenes and to also condescend to the Divergent fans by saying “calling all Teens and Tweens.” Yet another example of how the mainstream media has NO IDEA how big YA fiction is among people who waved goodbye to their Tween and Teen years decades ago. Way to research, Jenna!
“Unfortunately, some of our friends couldn’t come back… cause they… die.” It’s the feel good family film of the spring!
What else is out there about Insurgent? What do you think the Box is?
Insurgent is in theaters March 20, 2015.
