With the premiere of Girls only a few days away and because of the AWESOME social media team at HBO/Girls, my friends and I have been trading Girls clips back and forth in barely contained anticipation.
While playing their most recent Snapchat full of Shoshana clips, I got to thinking about each character and how they represent part of all my friends and girls we love to love/hate and how we each have a favorite. You know you do!! My inner hippie, world traveling weirdo finds her soulmate in Jessa but I also have a major thing for the TOTES AMAZE Shoshanna too. How can a girl choose?! But we must.
What your favorite Girls character says about you
Marnie
If your favorite character is Marnie you probably went with a group of girls to Target to buy the latest Taylor Swift album the day it released. You’ve also probably listen to that video of all the songs off her 1989 album turned into one song on repeat all day in your cubicle at the PR agency. Last month you hosted a cookie exchange Christmas party for your Yorkie/Maltipoo/Cavalier King Charles dog show training group. You’re the kind of girl who was encouraged by her parents too much as a child, and possibly didn’t get smacked around enough by her other siblings. You probably also think spending the night in watching Peter Pan live on NBC sounds like a good idea.
Your favorite guy from NSYNC: toss up between Justin Timberlake and Lance Bass (pre-coming out).
Shoshanna
If your favorite Girls character is Shoshanna you are probably nothing like her. You spend 9-5 as a law clerk or as VP of Development. Shoshanna is the spirit animal inside you just dying to bust through your Anna Taylor Loft professional suit skirt set (in professional navy pinstripe with taupe hosiery).

Jessa
If Jessa is your favorite Girls character you probably spent at least a semester of college in another country as part of a semester abroad study program. While in Spain/Italy/Prague you met a guy named Marco and seriously considered dropping out of college to live with Marco in his studio apartment above the open-all-night bodega. A into the semester break you decide your life’s passion is to be a doctor in Doctor’s Without Borders, so you leave Marco for med school. After your first chem. class you realize maybe Marco and the all night bodega were your life’s passion after all. You’re also secretly fascinated with all that essential oils nonsense all your mom friends on Facebook are talking about but could never admit it.

Hannah
If your favorite Girls character is Hannah, you have a complete collection of v-neck t-shirts from Target’s Mossimo collection. At least half the collection has some sort of food stain or small hole in the front. You cut all your hair off your junior year of college because you were “taking a break” from men for a while and decided that hair past your ears was just superfluous. Even with a college degree you work (almost) full time at your local bookstore, where you hide from customers in the stock room rereading Zora Neale Hurston books.
Your favorite guy from NSYNC: Chris Kirkpatrick (cause you like those rare flowers. With pineapple hair).
