And now, they’re back with bigger stakes, and hopefully bigger mash-ups, and you can’t pretend you aren’t stoked.

Why do sequel makers think they always have to go SO MUCH BIGGER and BRIGHTER than the original to get anyone to watch it? With a good story and great music, I would watch these girls and guys sing in empty swimming pools and big co-ed bathrooms for another 2 hours. I don’t need an international coup de grace to keep me interested. That performance arena looks like a Katy Perry concert. I think I’m gonna miss the rag-tagginess of the original.
BUT …
They are definitely bringing back the good times. My favorites all seem to be present in the sequel. And I don’t just mean Anna Kendrick, Skylar Austin and Rebel Wilson. My favorites include: awkward sleepovers, the perfect duet of Elizabeth Banks and John Michael Higgins, and gorgeous harmonies. And OMG did Elizabeth Banks DIRECT THIS???? PP2 looks aca-amazing.
But did they have to bring back Cups? Haven’t we suffered enough, pop radio DJs of America?
Pitch Perfect 2 is out on May 15. Who is planning to make an aca-night of it???
