This week I wanted to give you all a quick run down of some of my must have makeup products. These are products I can not live without, some of them I have mentioned in past posts. I totally understand that not everyone wears a full face of makeup everyday so I get it, I don’t either. I typically will do a full face of makeup maybe 4 days out of 7 and on weekends I wear brows and nothing else because y’all know how I feel about brows.
Over the years I have tried everything… I mean EVERYTHING! Here are a few of the products that have been staples in my makeup routine for years! My makeup must haves —
Foundation:
Estee Lauder’s Double Wear Light: Hands down the best foundation of all time and one of the best selling foundations in the industry. It is great for all skin types and so comfortable to wear. I am not a fan of heavy/ thick foundations, this is considered a medium coverage, but it still has amazing coverage. It feels like your own skin and won’t clog your pores. I have converted many to this product. It is sweat proof and will make your skin look like porcelain all day long. If you happen to like a thicker foundation for fuller coverage go with Double Wear Foundation (not the light version), this one is great if you have oily skin or have some skin imperfections you want to hide.
Setting/ Foundation Powder:
MAC Mineralize Skinfinish: This friggin’ stuff makes me so happy. I recommend it to EVERYONE if you don’t wear face makeup but want a little coverage go for this one. You can apply it wet or dry and it is build-able. I pop this on skin as a finishing powder it has a velvet finish, not shimmery but makes you look like you’ve got a glow from the inside.
Brows:
Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz and Benefit’s Gimme Brow. I won’t go into this too much because I recently wrote an entire post about brows but I can not live without these products! Check out this super cheesy video on how to use Gimme Brow.
Shadow Primer:
MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot: I don’t bother wearing shadow without a paint pot. I have tried pretty much every high end and low end eye shadow primer and none of them can compare to MAC’s painterly paint pot Hands down MAC rules this corner of the market. If you are a shadow wearer you need this product. It keeps your shadow looking good all day long while intensifying the color and prevents creasing all day long!
Blush:
MAC Style or Nars Orgasm: So this is a difficult recommendation because everyones skin type works with blushes differently but out of all the blushes I have worked with these are the most complementary to most skin types. Orgasm is one of the best selling blushes in the cosmetic industry, it looks great on everyone, but I like the consistency of Style better plus MAC blushes are always the best bang for your buck.
Mascara:
They’re Real Benefit. I love and hate this product. No doubt it is the best Mascara on the market. it makes your lashes long plump and it separates my beef with it is it takes turpentine to get it off of your lashes! It stays put so thats great but when I got to take it off it never really completely comes off. Still it makes my lashes look amazing so I put up with the nightly fight to remove it.
Optional:
Bronzer:
The Balm Bahama Mama. I have NEVER liked a bronzer as much as this one. Its literally a perfect product. It is the only bronzer that actually makes me look tan and NOT orange. As an added bonus all of The Balm’s powders, blushes, highlighters, and bronzers are suitable to use as eye shadows as well. I use Bahama Mama almost every day in my eye crease it is a perfect transition color!
Liquid Liner:
Lorac Front of the Line or MAC Fluidline. Apply fluidline with a angled brush (I like MAC’s 266) if you are eye liner savvy. I LOVE Lorac’s Front of the Line, it isn’t as water proof as fluidline but it is so easy touch up and apply. Its seriously dummy proof I use it everyday. Not an expert? Check out the video below for some tips.
Lip Gloss:
NYX Butter Gloss I own every single color. If you dig lip color these are a must have. Guess what!? They are a Drug store product! Very inexpensive and they are JUST as good as a high end gloss.
