For those of you who don’t know what dry shampoo is or have been living under a rock, its an amazing product that allows you to go days without washing your hair by soaking up your greasy head oils. It’s also supposed to give your hair some amazing volume. As with any hair product, there is the good the bad and the ugly. I have compiled a list of products (all of them I have tried) to let you know which ones to skip and which ones to buy. The great thing about dry shampoos is that they should last you a while (it takes me at least 3-6 months to go through one can) and they can be relatively inexpensive.
Lets get started shall we?
Psssst Instant Dry Shampoo: This the original spray dry shampoo. You can seriously find it at Rite Aid or CVS for under $5. It comes in different colors tints It works amazing, like seriously probably one of the best dry shampoos you can buy IF you can stand the smell and if you have light hair. If chemical smells don’t bother you in a hair product BUY THIS, they also now have tinted sprays. 3.5 Stars!
Bumble and Bumble: When I was in college many moons ago I suffered through a significant hair loss because of stress. Seriously 1/3 of my hair fell out it was one of the scariest times of my life. My doctor actually said these words to me “We better find out whats going on with your hair because no one wants to date a baldie.” TRUE STORY YALL! There wasn’t a lot of products like this on the market at the time and this one saved me! This one is also a tinted product and be forewarned if you scratch your head or flip your hair your hands and finger nails are going to be whatever color your hair is. Thats the only downfall to this product, it will add volume and if you have thinner hair this one is great! 4 Stars
Rockaholic Dirty Secret: This is one of my favorites. The smell is great and as the tag line says “It keeps your hair rocking for one more day.” Out of all of my suggestions, this is the one I actually use the most. I seriously have three cans of it under my sink right now. I buy them in bulk when I see a sale. This is one of two of the products that get a full 5 star rating from me. Its amazing! 5 Stars
TRESemmé Fresh Start Solutions: Sometimes drug store products can be great, but this is NOT one of those times. Unless you have an incredibly dry scalp and don’t produce much oil, I would say skip this one it actually left my hair more greasy after using it! 1 star.
Batiste Dry Shampoo: Here’s another inexpensive winner. You have LOTS of options here: different scents, different color tints, and its seriously impressive for the price point- usually under 10 bucks! If you want to skip one day of washing this is great, but it doesn’t do that well the second day you use it (Yes, I am gross and refuse to wash my hair more than twice a week). 4 Stars
The Balm En Root: This dry shampoo is a so so. It’s not terrible, but its way too expensive for a just okay product. Smell is okay and it works okay, but unless you just really love products by the Balm (which I do, their blushes and bronzers are amazing!) I would pass on this one 2.5 stars.
Bedhead Oh Bee Hive!: Best smelling dry shampoo I’ve found so far and it works just as great as it’s sister Rockaholic. Its a newer product, but I have quickly come to love it! This link should take you to a discounted site for this product! I can usually get it for around 10 bucks but you have to look for the deal since it retails around $21 (its worth it trust me!) 5 stars!
