This is not a fever dream post nor have I recently suffered from severe head trauma. I am 100% serious about my current feelings towards the fan favorite shipping of Oliver Queen and Felicity Smoak (#Olicity) on Arrow — plus I am just generally a fickle bitch.
The first episode back this season gave fans a little glimpse of the possibility of these two getting together and at first I had swoony sighs, heart swells and big grins thinking this was exactly what I wanted. Sadly the payoff (even prior to the restaurant being blown to bits and Oliver coming to dumb guy conclusions) just felt a bit awkward.
The smile he gives her before asking her to dinner? How does one resist that? Let’s have more dumb smiles.
Oliver should pine over Felicity
We’ve seen the stolen glances from Felicity, but it would be great to see Oliver get some moments of unrequited love or rejection. He needs to suffer a little after pulling that move at the hospital.
Felicity needs to explore her options
Have you seen whom she is working for at Queen consolidated? Anyone else having boardroom fantasies of Felicity and Ray Palmer? Can I just have a mini ship between them because their connection is hot. Can’t a girl have a little fun while Oliver figures out his issues. Please, TV show gods that be, make this happen. Yes, I just turned this whole scenario into kinky Beautiful Bastard, but this could be so good. I will ignore the possibility of anything happening with Barry over on Flash, because Felicity needs a man, not a minute-man (speed isn’t always a good thing if you get my drift.)
Let Oliver get jealous
Poor Felicity has seen Oliver work his way through all nutso ladies of Starling city and some of those women were conducting the crazy train to crazytown. While Felicity gets her kicks with Ray Palmer, let Oliver stew over his bad decisions and play the jealousy card.
UST makes for the best stories
Now that we know that Oliver loves Felicity and she has been pining over him since the start, let’s build up that unresolved sexual tension (UST). I want to see the chemistry between the two characters crackling on screen. By the time that they figure out that they can’t stay apart from one another, there should be no talking and only ripping of clothing.
The Black Canary
Comic book lore has the Green Arrow get together with the Black Canary. If this eventuality is true, I cannot take Olicity getting together only for it to be ripped away. My little shipper heart does have it’s hard limits.
While many may disagree with my reasons to delay Olicity, no one can really deny the brilliance of Oliver actually smiling on the show.
