Normal Girl Beauty: Bedtime Skin Care Routine Part 2

in on 10/24/14 by Tiffany 19 Comments

I‘m  back with Part 2 of Bedtime Skin Care Routines. For advice on cleansers, toners and moisturizers, see Part 1. In this post we are going to be talking about corrective skincare. Noticing wrinkles around your eyes? Or maybe your skin is still confused and is trying to take you back to the days when people called you pizza face. While getting older rules most of the time I still have panic attacks every time my birthday comes around. Hopefully the advice and products below will help us all deal with our mortality a little better. Strap in guys, we’re about to get crazy.

Eyes Creams and Serums:

Serums are great if you can afford them. While you sleep your skin gets to work repairing and  fighting off the natural and environmental damage. Your cells reproduce and turn over quicker using a serum helps speed up the recovery process while you sleep. Serums are to be placed directly on clean skin and locked in with a moisturizer on top.

Serums

Estee Lauders Advanced Night Repair: Lauder invented the serum, no joke! They were the first to figure out how to reverse damage using a serum and now have the #1 selling serum on the market and with good reason. I haven’t worked for Lauder in years but still can’t go with out it. It completely changed my skin seriously liquid gold in my eyes!

Eye Creams

I am the worst at remembering my eye creams at night, but when I wake up after a night I remember to apply it I can see a HUGE difference when I wake up on days I forget it I feel like Jamie Lee Curtis in the gif below. I always look for eye products with caffeine in them! Caffeine will do to your eyes what it a cup of coffee does to your body, it wakes you and your eyes up, and de-puffs those bad boys making you look more awake and ready for your day!

Products I Love:

Mac Fast Response Eye: Hands down a makeup artists’ best friend for de-puffing IMMEDIATELY! I love this product!

Clinique All About Eyes Serum De-Puffing Eye Massage: I keep one of these in my desk drawer, its super easy to apply since it’s in a rollerball packaging and works like a charm every time!

Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye: Remember how I sung the praises of the night time serum? That’s how I feel about the eye cream as well, this product does it all de-puffs, repairs and prevents damage.

Spot Treatments

Have a Zit? I’ve got you covered! Whenever an unwelcome visitor takes resident on my normally clear skin I kill it with a mixture of two products.

Products I love:

Mario Badescu Drying Lotion: This sucker burns for the first few seconds, so you know it’s working! Be sure to read the directions because there is a way to do it. Pop it on with a q-tip go to bed and wake up with a seriously deflated pimple, sometimes I wake up and the pimple has completely vanished. Use as soon as you sense one is on its way. Yeah you know that feeling deep under the skin…? Kill it before it emerges to ruin your weekend!

Elf Zit Zapper: YES, you read that right! ELF– the cheap ass makeup from Target. This little roller ball zit killer is $1! No joke it works pretty well too! I usually go over any blemish with the zapper first then pop on the drying lotion mentioned above to really seal the deal. I have used it on its own and have had good results. I mean it’s a $1 you can’t go wrong!

Look I get it, a lot of these products are spendy, but you only get one skin ya’ll sometimes its okay to treat yo self! Depending on your skin care concerns I would pop some of these things in your routine, but not everyone has to do it all. I know a ton of people who could care less about toners and serums some people have no need for spot treatments because they have flawless skin (barf).

Based on age I would recommend you not skip on the following.

Mid 20’s and under:  If you have normal skin, pretty much make sure you are keeping your skin makeup free at night. Use a good Cleanser and Makeup remover if you are wearing a ton of makeup. Moisturize every night, and after you wash your face in the morning (just a splash of water, don’t over cleanse your face). You will probably want to exfoliate every week or so.

Mid-20’s to mid 30’s: Follow the instructions above but start thinking about anti aging products including an eye cream  At this point its should be a no brainier you should be at the very least moisturizing and attempting to prevent damage.

Mid 30’s and beyond: Again follow the instructions above and maybe look into some products that can reverse damage or keep it at bay. It might be time to look into serums that prevent and or neutralize environmental and normal skin damage. The older you get the dryer your skin becomes so you might look into moisture masks.
