Dress Up
Emily: Robin Hood! tally-ho Indeed!
Lorena: To Sherwood! Oh my, what a fun episode!
Emily: I love Jenna and the costumes.
Lorena: I remember back in Rose’s first ones when she’d dress up. I thought that made more sense. I just like them in costume!
Emily: Me too. that red dress, her hair… maybe I want to go to a renaissance faire
Lorena: You should!
Emily: I get that it was acting but her reaction was hysterical when he appeared.
Lorena: Not only sheer fangirl excitement, but also the whole “Told ya so” to the Doctor
Emily: So – quick thought on the opening intro… we’re back to chalk and the chalk board…
Lorena: I don’t really see anything weird with that?
Emily: I don’t get it
Lorena: He likes to write out his equations, and he’s old school. Would you be happier with a dry erase board?
Emily: ha-ha! No, digital. I mean doesn’t it all happen in his head? Why write it out it’s not like Clara can understand it…
Lorena: Not if it’s so complex he’s needing to solve it over time. Perhaps this is just… just an ongoing thing he’s doing? Maybe he’s solving the way to The Promise Land?
Emily: ohhh! you’re the smart one of this duo!
Lorena: Nah, I’m just the Steven 😉 I’m imagining the spinning chalkboard now once he’s figured it all out.
The Legend, The Myth, The Man?
Emily: So Sherwood Forest… I wasn’t sure how there was going to be anything really doctor who-y to do with this. they did a great job
Lorena: I love that he has a fencing glove on hand
Emily: and a SPOON
Why a spoon cousin? It’s dull you twit, it’ll hurt more!
Emily: I love Alan Rickman as the sheriff not going to lie. I think Alan Rickman should play Tom Hiddleston’s dad in some great mystery adventure movie
Lorena: HAHA, Now that I would pay money to see, But Rickman is old enough to be Tom’s dad?
Emily: hold please I will imdb… Yes, Alan born in 1946, older than my dad. So… Alan Rickman isn’t in this episode of DW, but the spoon come on, that had to be a throw to that Robin Hood version right?
Lorena: For sure! They had tons of throws like when he jumps into the moat and it’s no big deal totally from Disney animated version
Emily: it’s a story that’s been done so many times. Did you think it was going to robot henchmen? I didn’t.
Lorena: Well, I thought the sheriff was gonna be the robot since the title was Robot of Sherwood but then, he didn’t seem robot-y enough
Emily: me too! but then for a quick minute I thought it was going to be Robin…but then, no…And he’s so cute!
Lorena: Is he? Like, adorable in his ridiculousness, and the acting was good
Emily: I liked him, Do you watch DaVinci’s Demons? Tom Riley, plays DaVinci… I like him.
Lorena: I haven’t seen it. I didn’t not like him, I just am not sexually attracted to the dude
Emily: and that’s okay…
One Big Pissing Match
Emily: I laughed how the archery tournament turned into a pissing match
Lorena: Yes, and then it’s revealed later that the doctor cheated, brilliant. “I sure we can work together”
Emily: it was the game of Horse, off the back board through the bleachers, I wanted Michael Jordan to show up
Lorena: AIR JORDAN!
Emily: Arrow Jordan!
Lorena: HA!
Tie-ins and the EXACT SAME MIND
Emily: So we saw that the Sheriff was only taking gold and yes we find out that it was aliens but the circuit board looked a lot like the circuit boards from Fires of Pompeii… I’m trying everything I can to tie that ep into PC’s Doctor.
Lorena: the thing looked like the transistor from Pompeii but not all in bits. YES
Emily: see! YES, but then, when he said how big his dreams were, first Sherwood, then Lincolnshire, then Derby…then the world.
Lorena: “One is a genius…”
Emily: I felt he was like in an episode of pinky and the brain, YES!
what are we going to do tomorrow night pinky?
Try to take over the world bhahha hahaha
Lorena:It was very “First Sherwood… then Lincolnshire, then Derby… and THEN! ” lol, it was so much that way
You can take the girl outta Blackpool. Such a Clara line. It was nice to have her back as herself
Emily: yes and “in step” with the doctor, not trying to “get to know him”
Lorena: Yes! Exactly None of this “Am I a good man?” Who cares! Just be yourself and we’ll sort it out, it’s not like you can’t remember who you were, Doctor
Emily: exactly and when Robin says to him “History can be a burden”
Lorena: That dialogue was MY FAVORITE part
Emily: My favorite part was the convo with Clara and the Doctor, that was my favorite part
Emily: There were such good lines in this ep! yay Mark/Mycroft
Lorena: there really were. he’s my fave. I would loooove to work with him–he’s so good, so talented. Ahem… show runner?!
Emily: Moff clearly needs a break evil puppetmaster
Lorena: He needs something… Maybe Sue Vertue should just take over 😉
Emily: let Mark write all the other eps in his queue!
Lorena: the Moff can take a holiday. I will mix your martini, Steven. Just take a break, please
Crusading Robots
Lorena: I did like the robots, I liked that they weren’t cyberman and that I’d never seen them before even though they looked very Classic Who
Emily: and I even liked that they shot a “cross” laser very crusade-y
Lorena: Yes! Brilliant design. Oh and that part where Robin is sword fighting the Sheriff and he does the Doctor’s move
Emily: Picking up tricks from the Doctor, that bow
Lorena: the Doctor’s all “I nod to that”. This was a good romp… Much needed too, after Into the Dalek
Maid Marian What?
Emily: I will say, I didn’t exactly know where Marian had gotten too, and why she was missing, and how the doctor found her, at the end tied up with a nice bow. I’m glad but…
Lorena: The Doctor was imprisoned with her
Emily: WHAT?
Lorena: She was the girl taken at the beginning and her father murdered, put into the slave camp spaceship thing
Emily: really? I totally didn’t catch that it was the same girl
Lorena: side note, why are the humans working as slaves when they have robots?
Emily: robots don’t wear out
Lorena: but no, the girl had the same costume all episode, in fact
Emily: I totally missed that she was who helped him, COMPLETELY missed that! I fail!
I was like ooh let’s use gold to reflect the lasers and kill them. I didn’t pay attention to who they were! Now I am better with her appearance!
Lorena: yeah, she was helping the old dude who wore out
Golden Ticket or Golden Arrow
Emily: I have to go there now…
Lorena: oh my!
Emily: “Surely we can manage it together… hahaha
Lorena: This is just getting good… Right! This threesome
Emily: Is that a golden arrow between your legs or are you just happy to see me Tom Riley?
Lorena: Tom Riley’s got his golden arrow’s sights set on you
Emily: My golden arrow can hit the target every time
Lorena: He’s not afraid to use it either! Oh god, I have ABC lyrics in my head now but reworked… “Shoot that golden arrow to my shiiiiiip”
Emily: I am not juvenile, I just can’t believe they went there and let us just have all of that fodder
Lorena: Oh, Mark is full of innuendo, glorious man. Why else would anyone crush on Benedict Cumberbatch?
Emily: Real quick! Doctor Karate
Lorena: LOLZ his attempt at taekwondo
Emily: that made me laugh and there was something that I don’t get the reference but old school DW fans made mention. When they were going through the robin hoods of all time There was one that might have been another doctor?
Lorena: Like in another doctor’s story or that the doctor WAS Robin Hood?
Emily: Its Patrick Troughton, he played Robin Hood in a 1953 BBC show apparently, we’re not British nor were we around at that time, we wouldn’t have known.
Lorena: It’s hardly the Doctor version of Patrick Troughton. God he looks SO YOUNG there
Emily: In conclusion… may those stories never end! I loved that wrap up and his story was real and not a myth
Lorena: Perhaps others will be heroes in our name. Perhaps we will both be stories and may those stories never end.
What a fabulous line! Fave part
Emily: So many amazing lines
Lorena: I felt all swelling heart OH! And new music too. There was def a new tune! And the show open HAS NOT grown on me. Still hate it. I love the new music though
Next Week’s Monsters?
Emily: next week looks so scary! I hate monsters under the bed
Lorena: OMG! Yes. I’d forgotten which one was next but no. Monsters under the bed is a no go for me! Will be watching that episode in the daytime
Emily: Must watch during day time! ha-ha
Lorena: ha!
Emily: I love you
Lorena: Sames! I’m laughing out loud for real
Emily: Me too! We’re so the same person! So, in the gifs for next week, there’s a guy in an orange astronaut suit (Waters of Mars) and it kinda looks like Mr. Pink but with hair and all scraggly.
Lorena: Right! I think it’s him based on pics I found while googling for him last week
Emily: Is it his back story?
Lorena: My husband was all, “No way!” and I’m like “No, I think so” so, MAYBE YOU WERE RIGHT?! Maybe he’s Blue’s brother? looked like a pilot type suit
Emily: I deleted into the Dalek so I can’t go back and see
Lorena: well, looked like Satan Pit suit
Emily: Satan Pit/Waters of Mars you know the scary ones
Lorena: Right. Oh god, is Danny going to be the enigmatic one this season? We already have Missy 🙁
All in all a good romp last week. But they won’t let us remain unfrightened for long. Be sure to check out this Saturday’s episode, titled…
And then get back here next week for another round of TARDIS Talks!
