For starters, check out the trailer for the movie premiering on September 1st.
Apparently, Lifetime thinks to replicate Mark Paul Gosselaar in his youth, it is all about dark eyebrows? His bizzaro-world doppelganger is missing the teen hunk status.
Some of the original cast members have spoken out that they have zero interest in a movie that is based on an unauthorized account from Dustin Diamond. If you have seen any of the crazy that has come from Dustin Diamond since the show went off the air (and there was plenty of it on VH1’s Celebrity Fit Club), you can understand why. Somehow I feel like his account may have been a bit influenced by hardcore jealousy.
It must be strange for the original cast to see who the network cast as their former selves. None of the actors really feel close to the originals, but maybe it’s because you can’t replicate the magic of the late 80s/early 90s that easily.
And everyone is feeling some SBTB nostalgia as it premiered 25 years ago on NBC. The web series, Kids React and Teens React showed clips from SBTB and kids of today just don’t get it.
If I were interviewing these teens after they ragged on the ridiculousness of the show, I would have then asked them to compare it to any of the wacky shows on the Disney Channel today. I mean, it is hard to get past Zach’s brick cell phone, but is the show really more bizarre than That’s So Raven, Good Luck Charlie, or Wizards of Waverly Place?
I’m not sure that I will catch the Lifetime movie (Lies, I totally will at some point that week), but I am now craving a binge watch of SBTB episodes stat. I’m so excited!

Will you watch the unauthorized Saved By The Bell Movie? Did you watch VH1’s Celebrity Fit club? Are you so excited?
