Damn he is good looking, and I’ll admit it, Sam Heughan didn’t really do it for me when I found out he was going to be Jamie. I’m so far along in the books that my Jamie is an older man, rugged, strong, and wise, but still really hot. But I am so, so, SO convinced that he’s Jamie now. And Catriona is Claire, she just is. She’s perfect. I can’t wait to meet the rest of the characters in upcoming episodes. {Except Laoghaire. She can rot.}
Another thing, the episode definitely earns its “Mature Audience” rating, so if you’re uncomfortable watching smexy times or medical type gore, you may want to re-think that viewing party with your friends.
There were a few things I had forgotten about, since it’s been so long since I read Outlander, that you should keep an eye out for:
- ghosts/spectres
- Jesus H. Roosevelt Christ
- ALL THE FORESHADOWING
Seriously though, everything is so well executed, the storyline, narrative, everything, feels more like you’re watching a feature film than a television show. It definitely leaves you wanting more!
And if you haven’t heard because you live in a cave, Starz is now offering the first episode, free, online or through the Starz Play app, beginning August 2nd. So if you haven’t convinced your partner that you need to subscribe, you’ve got a little bit more time to figure it out!
