I somehow got sucked into The Witches of East End recently, which I try to pretend isn’t on Lifetime. It’s like Charmed, which I loved, except darker and more dramatic. Maybe a combination of Charmed and Supernatural? I mean, we all know I started watching it to keep tabs on Channing Tatum’s wife. But dangit, I’m addicted. I’ll probably sneak into their panel on Thursday, if I can.
You know I’ll be hitting up the Battlestar Galactica panel, possibly in Starbuck cosplay (although I’m sure other Starbucks will be vastly superior). I want to hear all there is to know about the potential movie, plus I want to see if Adama has become Fat Adama IRL. SAY IT AIN’T SO!
I have to be honest here, though. I’m not really looking to attend too many big-name panels, because a) I’m not that interested in most of the movies and series there this year and b) I don’t like to stand in line for hours (days?). I’m very curious about some of the author and industry discussions. Check out some highlights (This is Thursday-heavy because that’s what has been released, but the Fri-Sun schedules will be released THIS Fri-Sun, so get ready!):
This panel on urban fantasy looks cool! I haven’t read any of these authors’ work, but I’d love to scratch that itch the Fever Series started. More urban fantasy, please.
Another panel that I’m dying to see is: Fantastic Females: Heroines in Paranormal Fantasy – “These authors know how to thrill readers with stories of kick-ass heroines who traverse the boundaries of other worlds and dimensions.” More details are below, plus a list of the authors (including our friends Christina Lauren!). This one looks awesome, for sure.

Ok, I might not use this knowledge anytime soon, but who knows! I’ve always wondered how comic artists are drawing and inking digitally. I’d love to get a peek at these tools and have a better understanding of how this all works, as an amateur illustrator who, clinging to her pencils and pens, can’t imagine going digital.
Again, no movie stars here, but hey: wouldn’t working in indie Comics marketing be pretty baller? Any chance to hear from someone on the team at The Mary Sue is also a win, in my opinion.
We’ve covered our guilty pleasure reads, now for some highbrow science fiction and fantasy literature. I have no good reason for this other than wanting to watch these people and get some glimpse of how their minds work. Can’t wait.
By now you’re saying to yourself, BUT I WAS PROMISED BURRITOS!
Ease up there, Pam. There are burritos aplenty in San Diego. I recently put out the call here for burrito help, and Kevin responded with the following recs:
Bonus pizza recs:
- Blind Lady Ale House
- URBN (I don’t think he’s tricking me into going to Urban Outfitters, but I can’t be positive.)
You can bet I will hit up most all of these places, but I am DETERMINED to hit the secret/maybe not a secret taco truck behind the convention center. When I was searching to find the name of said truck for this post, I discovered that MY OWN TWEET BELOW is on page 1 of Google results for “taco truck behind convention center SDCC.” I WIN AT SEO FOREVER.
I’m starting to think about #SDCC and all the tacos I will consume there. http://t.co/Jd5KeChao3 #SDCC14 #TNSDCC — Elise Ramsay (@eliseramsay) June 6, 2014
@eliseramsay The taco truck just outside of (and behind) the convention center is legendary. pic.twitter.com/7PEJahwgB5 — Jeff McClelland (@JeffMcClelland) June 6, 2014
Thank you, Jeff. Thank you.
Who’s ready for the rest of the schedule to be released? Can someone call me when Nerd HQ tickets go on sale? Anyone watch Archer and understand that burrito humping gif?
