British boys, amiright? These young, hot talents are everywhere and I just can’t seem to get enough. Union Jack’d will explore all those lovely lads from across the pond. First up is my favorite British export- Nicholas Hoult.
I would learn later that Hoult was that oh so freakin’ adorable little boy in About a Boy…
but it was Tony from BBC’s Skins that first grabbed my attention. He was the boy you hate to love and love to hate. He said little jewels like:

He also really enjoyed manipulating people via sexuality and it didn’t matter if you were a boy or a girl, Tony just wanted to control you.

Then a bus, literally, ran him over, leaving Tony physically and mentally challenged for Season 2. He was damaged, sensitive and I just wanted to give him a hug. Don’t fret, everything worked out for sweet Tony.

Next time I saw Mr. Hoult was X-men: First Class (2011)as Hank aka Beast. This role allowed him to portray my favorite brand of sexy: nerdy sexy. Yes, to those glasses and smirk.

He reprised the role for XMen: Days of Future Past (2014).

In between those two blockbusters came Jack the Giant Slayer and Warm Bodies (2013), my personal favorite. At first glance the film seemed to be riding the cliché “teen girl meets monster” curtails of other YA adaptations but it proved to be so much more.
That’s right, it scored an 80% on Rotten Tomatoes. To give you some sort of comparison, the Twilight trilogy tends to run between 20 40% and Mortal Instruments scored a staggeringly low 12%. Warm Bodies high ratings were no doubt due to Hoult’s amazing portrayal of a lovesmitten zombie named R.

This poster says it best…
Still, possibly the best is yet to come for this young Brit. Hoult’s IMDB lists 8 feature films in either “preproduction” or “postproduction.” Several are notable titles almost guaranteed to be blockbusters such as Young Ones, Mad Max: Fury Road, and XMen: Apocalypse.
So, normally, this is where my obsession for an actor ends…with their characters. Not so with Mr. Hoult.
In his interviews he’s downright quirky and adorable:
In real life he dates my badass imaginary bestie, Jennifer Lawrence.
And in the social media world, he’s friendly to fans without being an attention whore (James Franco, take note.)
Nicholas Hoult, I salute you for pulling off the perfect combination of hot celebrity and down-to-earth human being. I love you and #thatsnormal!
Are you crushing on Nick Hoult? Who should I feature next in Union Jack’D?
