In the vain of the biggest superhero AHEM teases to grace our mall screens such as Smallville or Agents of Shield, Fox has decided to join the party with Gotham. I mean, there are probably comics out there about this pre-Batman city, and perhaps they even star a stacheless-Gordon in the fray of Gotham city crime, but I’m curious as to the focus group that said, “I really want to get to know the powerless side characters in the Batman universe.” If they want to see rampant crime with frustrated cops, just turn on basic cable during the day to catch one of the many reruns of Law and Order. ::deadpans:: Or watch the news.
On a positive note, I am extremely happy to see Ben McKenzie get a leading role in another Fox series. I know audience members are still dealing with the pieces of his tragic loss on the O.C. and really want to see him flourish. The trailer looks good and you get a real sense of this palpable depressive city. And hey, there’s a young Bruce Wayne who just happens to live in the same city as all of his future foes. Perhaps the series won’t be a big AHEM tease as you wait for ANY DC Comic superhero to show up and help save the day. Perhaps it won’t be a frustrating wait as Bruce Wayne takes about 10-15 years to become the dark knight. Check out the trailer below. Does Gotham have enough substance to survive without the Bat?
If feeling a bit frustrated with the lack of vigilantism in the show, feel free to flip over to the CW for Arrow. The story does not disappoint and neither do Stephen Amell’s abs.
YOWSA.
What do you think of Gotham? Will you watch? Are you fangirling over Stephen Amell with me?
