But I was a very imaginative child. There were so many things I dreamt about. The dreams that stuck are the ones I’m living, but there are so-oooo many others that make me cringe to think about now. I mean, what if they had come true?
My Career Would Be:
My 10-year-old choice: veterinarian.
Current self: I still love animals. But I can’t see myself doing this all day:
OR
My 5-year-old choice: a cashier at a grocery store.
Current self: Honest work, but dull as dish water, and I’m so glad I don’t have to do it.
My Hobby Would Be:
Perfecting time travel so I could live in Regency England, a pioneer during Manifest Destiny, or a Civil War Southern belle who helped with the Underground Railroad.
Current Self: Do NOT make me live without my Nook, computer, and (for the love of all that is holy) a working furnace during the winter. What was my teen self thinking? Who wants to wear a corset when you can run to the grocery store in yoga pants?
I’d Live:
In California, Hawaii, England, or Italy
Current Self: I love traveling to all those places, but I like living in my hometown with my parents as built-in (free) baby-sitters.
I’d Be Married to:
Prince William. Because we’re the same age and I could be a princess(!).
Current Self: Who would want to have to be a size 2, constantly be perfectly groomed/fashionable, and have the paparazzi stalk you and your newborn?!? So glad I never had to look like that when my daughter was a newborn.
So what childhood dreams are you grateful did not come true for you?
