If you are an avid TV watcher like me, you are likely already frustrated and bored with reruns and other dull TV shows the networks feel we should be watching. And while we could just sit around and stare at each other while perhaps making polite conversation with loved ones (our cats), I thought it may be better to put together a summer tv guide.
Orange Is the New Black – June 6
The second season of this breakout Netflix hit is just a couple weeks away. If you are anything like me, you will likely be done watching within a week. Or you could be one of the lucky ones that never got around to watching the first season yet! Maybe it will take you two weeks to get through both seasons. That’s two entire weeks where you won’t have to suffer through America’s Got Talent or one of those other lame talent shows.
OITNB is a fish out of water scenario, sort of like Bring It On 3 with less cheering and more shanking. I won’t give anything away about what happens at the end of season 1, but Chapman is in a bit of dire straights.
Don’t have Netflix? Sign up through one of those silly facebook apps that give you extra swag points for purchases. I mean, you should get something out of signing up for a new netflix account, right? I signed up back in my Facebook Sorority Life days.
Halt and Catch Fire – June 1
LEE PACE. Lee Pace’s face. Lee Pace is back on our TV sets in 80s garb. Personal Computing! Halt and Catch Fire seems to be about the personal computing arms race of the 80s. Real or likely something I just made up, but Lee Pace looks AH-MAZING.
Apparently you can catch the pilot on Tumblr before it airs on the telly. You can watch it on your personal computer. GET IT?!
Outlander – August 9
If anything, most of us are very aware of this premiere date and I suspect viewing parties evites have already gone out. Planning authentic Scottish cuisine? Might I suggest keeping it more to snacks (cheese plates are That’s Normal personal favorite) and a good bottle of whiskey? Oh, you may want to stock up on the Whiskey as apparently there is a shortage.
Personally, I think that I may want to watch the first Outlander episode alone without the requisite person asking inane questions throughout the hour. Perhaps a later binge watch party is more my style after I have already had time to digest the episode. More than likely though, I will be at Bekah’s house since my current situation is not favorable to Starz acquirement.
And if all else fails, seek out Stephen Amell’s abs in The Arrow. Okay, the show is actually really fantastic and a great comic book adaptation. His abs are just icing on the cake.
What will you be watching this summer?
