My post about Plus One from a year ago is really the gift that keeps on giving. From time to time nostalgic 20 and 30 something women will comment with updates on gossip and news they’ve heard through the grapevine making me want to write a whole new post and update everyone (all 10 of us that care) but haven’t had enough news to warrant a whole new post. Ok, let’s break down this 55 second video…

Sooooo what you’re telling me is your bible study and your parents’ prayer groups have been praying for you guys to reunite and that it be “God’s will” and “God’s timing.” Ok, I mean I get it but I was hoping this wouldn’t be so… “Christianese.”
Where are Nate and Jeremy??
You can’t tell me Jeremy’s busy Crossfit schedule or Nate’s super busy flea market, vintage clothes reselling and Instagram posting schedule wouldn’t allow for their participation. So where are they???? If they’re not joining the Plus One reunion at least provide some explanation as to why. And no, vintage clothes selling does not count.
That Song.
Did Katy Perry write this song? Cause I’m feeling the major CCM (contemporary Christian music) vibes and I don’t know. A metaphor about Little League as the first verse? Clearly, there are too many dads in this reunion. Nothing says lady boner killer like a baseball metaphor in a boyband song. This is SO CCM I thought my computer had magically turned into a KLOVE radio in my mom’s car circa 2001. There’s even a bloody key change at the bridge to last chorus!! I simply cannot. We’re too old and too refined in our musical tastes for this right now. You can’t tell me the guy who created some of the best music of 2008 (Gabe with his Castledoor band) is into this sound. You can’t tell me Nathan who was trying to write house music back in the day gets off on this praise music lite sound. Honestly. We all like cooler music than this. I have faith, Plus ONE you will make this album good. Of course I’ll be saving my final judgement for the entire album but this is not the best first impression of a come back. In fact HOV and I are NOT calling it a come back until we hear a killer comeback track and maybe get Jeremy and Nate back in the picture.
And to think, I was so excited and had all my “dead,” “I can’t,” MC Hammer dancing, and “I Regret Nothing” GIFs all ready to go. Instead I will place this here… until I hear the full thing:
