Okay that gif barely expresses all my sarcastic feels so here is how I REALLY feel:
1) Duh. Of course they’re stretching the 3rd book of a popular book series into 2 movies. It’s exactly what I’d do if I was an executive, sitting in a board room {renamed “Bored room” after the executives had to read the book. Duh Duh CHING} making decisions to benefit my company financially, answering to shareholders. I’d also vacation on yachts in the Mediterranean, wear only Marc Jacobs and pay someone to do every boring thing in my life if I was a movie executive. #funfact
2) As a fan who likes the series but hates the 3rd book, I think turning Allegiant into 2 movies is a bad idea because it’s not good, doesn’t have enough content and omg I just fell asleep trying to finish this thought because I spent more than 4 seconds thinking about all the science stuff in Allegiant.
3) What I think would have been an even BETTER decision for the Divergent series would have been to ignore the norm that every studio is following lately with the last book in a series and instead do an amazing job with the story for Allegiant and change our minds about how the series ends. But instead they made the decision (see #1. I get why) that is so cliche and expected these days.
With the girls visiting this weekend for #TNdoesPHL (<— look at that hashtag for a recap of our fun) we racked our brains to figure out the REAL reasons why the movie studio made that decision:

More Four
They’re bringing in zombies in order to spice up the story
They decided fan backlash is so much fun, that they want to wait EVEN LONGER to cast Uriah
Surprise! Tris’ parents are ALIVE and will play an integral role in the 4th film.
They decided for the ultimate YA cross-over and will be bringing in Aro for a surprise fight scene at the end ala Breaking Dawn Part 2.
Allegiant is being completely re-written to write the wrongs of Veronica Roth. And they realize it is just going to take 2 films to unravel what started to fall apart in Insurgent.
More Theo:
They are working on a “Girls against the world” storyline and bringing in Katniss (District 13 is close to Chicago) and badass Bella (they move to the Chicago in the future… Edward wanted to be closer to his childhood home) to fight alongside of Tris.
Is any other reason needed?
It’s taking at least 3 more years for the Illustrated Divergent guide to be released, so they had to stretch out the last movie.
Did we mention this guy?
In Allegiant they discover a time machine, which flashes them forward 40 years, explaining why Theo looks so old
OR
They wander for 40 years outside of the fence (much like Moses) which explains why Theo suddenly looks 45:
To make up for all our questioning whether or not Tris and Four ended up having sex in Allegiant, Allegiant Part 1 will just be one Tris-Four Sex scene.
Either way, no matter what we think/feel/don’t feel, we have 3 more Divergent Movies, 3 more years of hippie tips with Shailene, 3 more years of Bro-ing it out with Miles Tiller and 3 more delicious years of Theo James. And one of those things is very okayyyyyy with us. Take your guess as to which one it is!
