I was told to arrive at the AMC theater at Pacific Place 5:30 and to head into the theater to check in and get instructions for the night ahead. I arrived at 5:20 and quickly took charge and found my way to the head of the long line. The staff at this event was legit you guys! Seattle knows how to get shit done. I was given a a press pass and a goodie bag with a ton of Divergent merch, including a hoodie I have totally worn to bed every night since the night of the screening. The only thing it didn’t have in it was a life-sized Four pillow, but you can’t have it all kids.
Our spot on the Red Carpet
My friend, Lori, and I ended up being the first in the theater where there were reserved seats for press and industry people. We got prime spots & Lori stayed to stand guard with a couple of girls who ended up crying and screaming off and on through out the night. Since our guests were not allowed in the press box and I follow rules I was escorted to the red carpet all alone.
Hot Box of Fandom Love
It was super fun to meet and share my personal space with some of the girls (and one guy) in the fandom including the girls from TrisandFour.com, Divergentlexicon.com, thefandom.net and a ton of other great people. We were told that Miles and Jai would be arriving at 6:15 and unlike Katy’s experience in San Fran they were pretty close to on time, no more than 15 minutes late. It was so hot on that damn red carpet that by the time selfies were about to be taken all of our hair was flat and makeup was sweated off 🙁 its okay because it was clear that Jai and Miles along with their entourage had already had a long ass day too.
The Guys arrive and fans lose their minds
Miles and Jai spent a TON of time on the carpet with the fans, They spent at least double the amount of time signing and posing for pictures with the crowd than they did with the press which was super cool of them. Most of the fans grabbed their photo and signature and booked it to the theater to grab their seat. The guys basically stayed until the last person got their selfie. When Jai finally got to the print press area (TV press was first) he told us he would be right back because he realized that he skipped over a big group of fans.
The Man in the Fedora and the Nerdy Guy who can’t shut the hell up
Apparently Jai can tell a good joke, check out how hard he is charming these dudes. This guy in the fedora was in all of our pictures for the first half hour since he was standing directly in front of us. By the time Jai got to them we were getting anxious to speak with him, but there they were, laughing it up for a good fifteen minutes. Jai’s handler let him yak with the guys for ages, while the pretty girl that was toting Miles around shut them down after said Nerdy guy would not stop talking!
Please note the guy on the far left and how giggly he is in this series of photos.
“Oh Jai you are too much!”
That time I thought Jai had just toked up before the premiere
It was finally our time, and after asking Jai a few questions, one of which was “what do you think is the best technique for a selfie?” His answer was pretty lame, he claimed he had never taken one before this week… right Jai, we totally believe you... After our selfie was taken I realized that being up close with him was not what I was expecting, because I suddenly got the biggest whiff of weed. I thought “well he must be partaking in our state’s new law” until directly after our selfie he asked me “is someone smoking weed in here?” to which I answered “I thought it was you, I didn’t smell it until just now don’t worry its totally legal here” he quickly responded “I swear its not me!”
That Time Miles and I made a short film about cats
I am not an expert at selfies, this is even more evident when I am trying to ask questions while getting prepared to take a selfie. Of course I was that girl who can’t figure out how to work her friggin’ phone when I most needed to. The result was a second long video in which Miles says the word “cats” While I smile my biggest smile beside him. I think he was answering the question “what would be in your fear landscape”
The Fedora guy strikes again, and apparently Mr. giggle-buns didn’t think Miles was as funny as Jai was. The nerdy looking dude would not let Miles go, but his people shut him down like pros!
Here is a short vid with a few questions with the guys:

Wrap up
All and all I was super impressed by the staff and everyone involved in making this happen. Miles and Jai were so ready to answer questions and meet fans. They spent some real QT with all of us and after they took a quick breather came out into the theater to introduce the film. The two most disappointing parts of the night is when our phones were (understandably) confiscated when walking into the movie and when I got back to my car and realized I had parked in the WORST parking garage ever and had to pay 27 bucks for a weeknight after 5 pm. Gross. I was however, surprised by how quickly they sorted out and gave phones back to 300+ people.
I went in to the movie pretty open minded and it really was beyond my expectations. I can’t wait for March 21st to see it again and I can’t wait for all of you to get to experience it too!
