If you’re already a fan of “Parks and Rec” like me, you can’t wait. If you haven’t seen it yet, hurry up and get on it, because you’re currently depriving yourself of an amazing joy. This would normally be the part where I give you an overview of all the characters and some of the best moments of the show in order to convince you to watch, but I can’t even do it. There’s just too much fantastic content. So just as a very general synopsis I’ll tell you that Leslie Knope and her friends work for the government of the small city of Pawnee, Indiana, and hilarity ensues in pretty much every single episode. You still have time for some binge watching (or some binge re-watching, like I’m doing right now) before the new episodes start up again. Come on, you know Amy Poehler alone is enough reason to watch…
Each fan is going to have a lot of stuff they want to see happen in the rest of the season. Personally, I’m very excited to see what Leslie is going to do now that she’s lost her seat on the City Counsil. This is one of those times when I don’t understand why she loves Pawnee so much. She worked her ass off for the citizens of this little town, first in the Parks department and then as a City Councilwoman and they got rid of her because she did a few things that they didn’t like. Agree with her policies or not, our country would be a lot better off if all of our government employees worked as hard and cared as much as Leslie Knope. But because Leslie is Leslie, she’ll land on her feet and do something incredible. It seems like she’ll finally be able to start work on the park she’s wanted to build since the first episode. I also want more Ben and Leslie. They’re an adorably hilarious couple.
I also hope we get more Andy from this point on. Chris Pratt has only been in a few episodes this season because he’s been busy shooting “Guardians of the Galaxy,” but I love April and Andy together and I’ve been missing them. Unfortunately we know for sure that we’ll soon be seeing less of other characters. For anyone who might not have read the news about it a few months ago, both Rob Lowe and Rashida Jones are leaving the show. The story line where Chris and Ann are going to move away from Pawnee to raise their baby has been set up for a little while now, and the 13th episode of the season is going to be their last one. More than anything, I don’t know how the show is going to be without the Leslie/Ann dynamic. Their friendship is such an important part of “Parks and Rec” and I’m afraid it’s going to feel like something huge is missing once that’s gone.
As always, I know that I’ll love anything on the show that involves the perfection that is Ron Swanson. There are too many clips and gifs to use that display him in all his glory. And all of them are tremendous. I have a special fondness for the one I used here because this is pretty much my dream wedding. Seriously. That’s not a joke or sarcasm, I would love this so much.
I’ll be recapping the new episodes after they air each week so we can have all kinds of “Parks and Recreation” fun together. It’s going to be so exciting everyone! Get ready! Parks & Rec comes back tomorrow 1/9 at 8:30/7:30c on NBC
What are your favorite Parks and Rec moments? Any characters you’re particularly looking forward to see again after such a long break?
