Amanda Price, Jane Austen/Pride and Prejudice ultimate fan loves the story SO much that somehow a magical portal to Longbourn at the beginning of the P&P story opens up through a pipping access door in her bathroom. She steps through time/space/literary dimensions and actually ends up in her favorite story! I mean, how many times have you read a book and imagined what you would do, say, act? This mini-series gives fans the ultimate fantasy and yet, it isn’t quite what Amanda Price imagined.
Amanda starts to eff the entire thing up. Things go SO SO wrong. And this is my worst fear (in my fantasies) that I make it to this fantastical place and my modern sensibilities and over confidence of what is supposed to happen create chaos.
I submit to you that this entire concept of a TV show would never make it to American TV without first being hugely popular in Britain and if we are very lucky, we may see it on BBC America or directly on Netflix. The only equivalent would be an awful ABC Family original movie that would not have the same wit and would likely star Tori Spelling.
If you are a fan of Austen, the movie Austenland, or generally love saucy Brits, check out Lost in Austen on Hulu or search deep on youtube. You will not be disappointed. I mean, how can you not watch a show where the character has Mr. Darcy pull a Colin Firth Mr. Darcy because she can?
Have you watched Lost in Austen from a few years back? Is British TV doing it better?
