The last 2 recaps I wrote were just waaaay too long. So this week I’m gonna let Tumblr do most of the recap for episodes 3 and 4 because we all know the pictures are all that we really look at anyway! Spoilers ahead!
Episode 3 Forget Me Not
Alice and Will set out to find out who dug up the bottle and need the help of a magical rope called the Forget Me Knot. Looking at a place or object through the rope you can see the last thing that happened. Yep that should be helpful.
(Hint – It was the White Rabbit)
So things we found out this episode:
Will/The Knave of Hearts also happens to be Will Scarlet. THE Will Scarlet who hung out with Robin Hood and his Merry Men. Yep, at one point Will was in the Enchanted Forest probably at the same time Snow White and her pals from OUAT were. Now in Wonderland Will is a wanted man….with or without his head. Theft, fraud, posturing, impostering, gambling, disturbing the peace, and public nudity. He has quite the resume.
He didn’t learn his wayward ways from Robin Hood though. There seems to be a different definitions of ‘thief’ in the Enchanted Forest.
He wasn’t part of the Merry Men for long. Will convinced them to steal gold from Maleficent’s castle as a cover while he secretly stole an enchanted mirror for his unidentified girlfriend. Robin wasn’t real merry when he found that out.
Jafar and the Red Queen are plotting on how to get Alice to use her first wish. Watching for Cyrus’ reactions to various suggestions of different creatures to send after Alice; they decide on sending the Bandersnatch.
Clever Cyrus reacted to that one because he knew Alice had dealt with it before and since learned more about it and how to best it.
We also learned that Wonderland must be “in a galaxy far far away” or at least one where a Sarlacc exists.
Yep, this kind of Sarlacc
That and the Cantina band music played in background as Will strikes a deal with the Caterpillar for the Forget Me Knot in Wonderland’s underland. My dream of Ewoks appearing in Wonderland is looking more and more like a possibility.
Alice and Will’s deal with the Caterpillar was to steal the Forget Me Knot from Grendel in exchange for Will’s debt to him being wiped clean. Grendel had stolen the Knot from the Red Queen so he could see his dead wife and for this the Red Queen changed him into a monster.
Before Will and Alice could sneak in and take the Knot, Grendel captured them. Alice used one of her wishes to escape the binds.
Sharp edges on the Ruby Wishes?!? That certainly is convenient.
Before they can make it out the door Grendel appears and, as luck would have it, they open the door the just in time for the Bandersnatch to come charging through towards Grendel. Alice, knowing that a Bandersnatch has poor eyesight, traps it in the Forget Me Knot, where Will then kills it. Since the Knot no longer works shows his wife, Grendel gives it to them in exchange for saving him from the Bandersnatch. Of course in Wonderland no good deed goes unpunished and once the Red Queen and Jafar find out who helped Alice escape the Bandersnatch, Jafar kills Grendel.
After discovering that the White Rabbit dug up the bottle, Will takes one last look through it seeing the Red Queen, he decides it’s better to destroy it than turn it over to the Caterpillar.
The only thing left to reveal is the identity of the girl Will stole the mirror for.
Will Scarlet…Red Queen. Scarlet…Red…I see what they did there.
Episode 4 – The Serpent (AKA Jafar’s Back-story)
First of all the Red Queen and The Knave of Hearts are reunited this episode. Guards have captured Will after he and Alice split up running from the Caterpillar’s guards. Giving them the chance for a nice little meetup in his cell.
Wait is that a model of the Death Star behind her or is Will in a Panopticon?
Jafar convinces the Queen that a public beheading will serve as a warning to all in Wonderland who try to help Alice. The Red Queen visits Will a second time in his cell offering him a chance to escape with the White Rabbit.
Alice believes it’s the Caterpillar who has Will, but before she can slip into his lair she is stopped Elizabeth aka Lizard. Lizard tells Alice that it’s the Queen who has Will and wants to go with her to rescue him. Lizard once trained under Will and they had somewhat of a friendship before he left Wonderland. It’s Lizard who tells Alice that will left Wonderland because of Ana, not because of his debts.
Alice and Lizard come across the group waiting to watch the execution. The Red Queen and Jafar know Alice is there watching the test run of the execution equipment but leave her be, waiting to see how far she’s willing to go to save Will. Of course, watching the test run sparks a rescue plan.
Most of the episode follows Jafar; from his life a beggar boy in Agrabah meeting up with a sorceress, to his turn to dark magic.
Jafar’s mentor is the one who started Jafar on his quest to seek out and collect Genies and their bottles. Together they have two bottles but need a third to obtain the power necessary to change the laws of magic. Jafar tracks down the man who is in possession of Cyrus and his bottle.

off to a galaxy far, far away
Later Jafar tells his mentor that he’s heard a rumor of a third bottle in Agrabah. In a dickish move one would expect from a character like Jafar, he poisons her so he can steal her essences (turns her into his snake staff) thus making him even more powerful.
Back to the Knave’s execution brilliant escape with the help of Alice.
Or what would have been a brilliant escape had they not ran straight into the maze where they met up with Lizard. Jafar swoops in on his flying carpet to stop them. Alice tells Jafar that she knows who he is and what he wants. When Jafar chokes Will in an attempt to get Alice to use a wish, she outsmarts him…
… or not.
Jafar threatens to keep destroying all the things Alice cares about because she has a weakness and he will exploit that.
Alice turns to the Red Queen for help only to be told that Alice can help him by making a wish.
And just what has Cyrus been up to in this episode? Tricking a guard into giving him a piece of meat, because he’s slowly being starved to death, to get ahold of a wishbone. He breaks the wishbone apart but has to turn over the larger part to the guard when he attempted to hide it. The guard tosses the piece in the pit below the cages. In the last scene, Cyrus is seen again answering the other prisoner’s question about the wishbone. Cyrus tells him that the myth of having the larger half of the wishbone to make a wish is untrue. All a wishbone wants is to be united together. He summons the half back to his cage. The pieces magically reunite.
I’m off to look for fanfic about Ewoks and Carebears dancing hand in hand throughout Wonderland! What do you think? Are you watching Wonderland with me?
